I need new shoes for my bike. I had metzlers and they lasted well but hardened off and got a bit skittery. Is there anyone with a similar bike with a different combo. I ride occasionally. The bike is riden the bike as it was designed and I wish to have a good tyre to keep my ass off the road in all conditions. 1984 RZ500N 16 inch front and 18 rear.

I found the Metzlers were ok  Apparently things like EXUP wheels are a good conversion, I think combined with the FZR400 4 pot calipers it all bolts up ok? No idea what the deal is with 16/18 tyres these days though :(
Do you want to sell it? I'd quite like to buy one

I've always been a Metzeler fan but the last set I fitted to the Kat were Pirelli Sport Demons which I've found to be great tyres.

Oooooh - something we agree on. Although I'd say that SD's are better suited to the mid-range bikes than your 1100?? Still, excellent tyres and usually readily available in the off sizes. Another one to look at is the Bridgestone BT45 - roughly equivalent grip and possibly longer wearing.

Sport Demons are V rated just as the Phantoms were back the good old days. (And I would have thought you'd have figured out that Sport Demons would be quite adequate for my riding style.:msn-wink:

BT45.........sharper steering than metzlers and sticky to the end......last longer ? don't think so Tim, just biffed my last front after 6000km ( and I ride like a nana ) sticky to the end though:woohoo:

B/stone Bt39 are very good (softer than the bt45) I run them on my GPz550 post classic bike and they do everything well. Blew me away on their wet weather performance at Greymouth Street race.

Why would I have figured that out? I've never seen you ride. But if it's anything like your posts, it's bound to be quite aggressive with little thought as to what others may think of it.:shifty:
