WOF visible both sides?

Hi,

My next dumb question:

Car WOF's get stuck on the windscreen - so from outside only one side is really visible.

Do bike WOFs need to be visible both sides?

I'm about to embark on building a tail-tidy (have bought the Aluminium...) and want to use a rego-holder for the WOF, instead of the plastic dangly thing.

(I like symmetry).

But this will make it impossible for a meter-person or cop to see both sides.

More interested in the actual legals, than what is gotten away with.

Get someone to fondle you while you're fitting it then.
The important information is on the side that the tester fills out - the other side is just for a quick visual check by police oroficers and parking trolls.
Look, what I've done is put the nice alumunumununimininium rego holder above the plate, then the WOF holder's on the side of the mudguard, bolted flat to it in its silly little plastic holder, with the written side out. The punched out "hole for the month" shows as a quick visual check, against the black of the mudguard.
If you want both sides visible, you're going to have to stick it on summat that's (a) clear plastic or glass, and (b) offers access to both sides. You've got very few options here:
1. You can stick the WOF holder so it sticks out clear of the plate (on previous bikes, I bolted it to the side or bottom of the plate).
2. You can stick the WOF sticker on the windscreen (which ends up making a mess of it).
3. You could stick it in your rego holder, and cut a 'window' in the mudguard or whatever's behind it. (This could be good for amusement value if the oroficer/troll has to stick their head under the mudguard to view the other side!)
4. Make a special SwivellyHolderThingo (technical term) that offers access to both sides. Or a special miniature glass windscreen on the front of your bike, just for the sticker.


Look, this isn't rocket science, and whether it "feels right" or not, it's quite OK to just bung it on your bike somewhere where the written side is visible, preferably near the rego plate, as the parking trolls are VERY lazy and grumpy and don't like playing "hunt the sticker", so will give you a ticket if they can't find it without moving their head a couple of degrees and/or centimetres.

Have always put wof, and also the rego, in the same cheapo plastic holder.
Wof with written details visible and outermost.

Never been hassled about it.

In theory it has to be clearly visible - I'm like you I don't like that crap hanging out all over the place. On one of my bikes I had it under the seat for years. On the new Hornet I have moved it inboard of the left muffler - clearly visible when you duck down and look from the right side under the guard..... that's my definition of clearly visible!

One side only is fine, I display the written bit as it shows the specific date it expires.

IDEA - stick it on the side of your helmet by the pivot point - ha ha if anyone asks its on your windscreen same as 100% of the cars.

Proper biker??? What like you mate? You can't call yourself a biker because you are for ever breaking the law, showing other riders how much of an idiot you are and then bragging about it on a public forum. I seriously wonder how the hell you can be proud of your efforts....

Ok that rant over, the WOF label issue, have the side that has the writing on face outward so it can be read. This is how the labels are fitted to bikes so your rego holder idea will work if you so wish. As long as it can be seen.
Mine is on the underside of my number plate but it is visible, they just need to look for it.

I know I come off like a wus (and I'm even happy to admit my riding skills are probably on par with most KB'ers - if they were drunk and had their helmets on backwards) but just want to avoid stupid fines from zealous parking wardens.

(For that matter - from the googling I've been doing of what legislation I could find; a tail-tidy and removing my shovel is probably illegal in the first place. [But yes, I'll do it anyway.])

Mate, I do apologise for my attitude towards you because you are probably a decent bloke but from what I have seen and heard of you on here, your in no place to give advice on any aspect of being a biker.... Let alone the legalities of warrantlable standards of someone else machine.

Just buy a $5 plastic wof holder from repco, normally intended for trailers to use.

When you get your wof sticker, stick it to a piece of clingfilm/gladwrap, which allows for both sides to be perfectly visible without messing up the holder, install in wof holder and attach to bike.

Problem solved.

ditto with mine... in the same place. im a fanatic for cleaning the bike when i get around to it [which isnt often!] and that damn thing drove me nuts. i just give the inside a wipe when the stickers get changed out.

My Aussie mate with a GN got a $?00 ticket for not displaying his WOF. ...but he had thrown it away when he got his license, on the (fairly reasonable) basis that since he had to have the WOF to get the license, having the license meant he must have had a WOF.

(He had the license folded in half, and stuffed into the plastic WOF holder thing (that I don't want to use)).

Without a reflector you will not get a WOF period. The theory being that if your tail light goes out at night at least the reflector will show up in headlights.

I'm hoping to find a way to bung it on the license plate light (so I'm looking for something to replace the stock one e.g. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=131687750 so I don't have to screw with the OEM one, or maybe a set of those little LED's that would mount under the tail).

As I understand...the "charge" would be "failing to display a current WOF". As long as the parking twats can see the EXPIRY date, they will be happy. Plod KNOW all the details when they call in your rego no. Big brother knows all... little brothers know fuck all...

A good idea (if your gonna use the ally reg holder for yr warrant) is to get it laminated or glad wrap as was mentioned, or water will get in and you wont read it after a short time !
My shit (reg and warrant) is up hidden above the back wheel, as its tailless now !

The WOF sticker on mine is in a plastic holder stuck to the back of the numberplate. The peel off paper that reveals the sticky bit has been left on so the the label doesnt actually attach itself - thus, I dont have to buy a new holder every time I get a WOF. The details are visible if someone cares to look and its tucked away for aesthetics.
