Hey, does anyone in Welly have a Swiss Ball I can borrow for a few weeks?

Midwife told me yesterday that it's best for me to sit on one of those when I'm watching telly etc for the next couple of weeks, to keep the boy in the good position he's currently in - but I don't have one and I don't want to have to shell out for something I'll probably not use again!

It'd need to be a fairly heavy duty one cos I'm no lightweight!

I need it fairly urgently so quick replies would be welcomed

Thanks chickies :D

(mods - I put this in Biker Angels cos it seemed more appropriate than Rant & Rave - but if it needs to be moved, feel free....and accept my apologies)

I think I have one at my Mums in Wainui. I can get her to send it to you somewhere? It does need blowing up though

Their ones are pretty lightweight tho - you've seen the size of me Col! Having it pop from under me is not an idea I'm keen on....

Yep, but they're not very strong...especially if you've got cats around

Mine has got a zillion little puncture holes in it now and is looking less than healthy these days...

All sorted now - thanks Stickchick! You're a wee star :D

The power of the interweb - amazing how quickly stuff can get sorted out!

Swiss balls. Brought to you by the same people who foisted upon us other necessities of life, such as the sipper bottle and feng shui (which, I understand, is Chinese for "bullshit").

And not to be mistaken with geisha balls...which admitedly will make you feel really "zen" too... :blip:

Hey, I'm no new-age believer, but the world's biggest baby is apparently in the best position he can be in right now (to make him pop out easily - altho I think 'easily' is all relative...) and I'm prepared to do anything I can to make sure he stays there!!!

ANYTHING that makes this godforsaken process that's coming up a little easier is good in my book

So bring on the raspberry leaf tea, the swiss balls, the arnica tablets and as many drugs as I am legally allowed! Am not too proud to admit I'm terrified of what's ahead.

The gas.. get the gas!! Gas is good... I had some too so I know. I wasn't in labour but I thought why should she have all the fun...? Now they monitor who gets the gas...

Don't worry, we all are when it's the first time.

Pah...Bullshit! The gas does jack shit...All it did was make me sleepy. I'd refused drugs from the start and my midwife insisted I try it, just to take the "edge" off...

Just started snoring softly on the pillow between contractions...not what you want when you have to concentrate on the matters at hand.

Good luck with everything Jude!!! Believe me, when you start going into labour you will be fully focused on getting the little one out, as quickly as possible... ahhh the satisfaction when it finely pops out after all the contractions and pushing.... its the biggest high I have ever been on  I am sure everything will go well for you, and the only advise i can give you is walking the contractions helps, and drinking lots of water, and dont worry about offending anyone with any foul language. And remember at the end of it all you will be holding your beautiful baby.

 Mine were kittens at the time, and thought it was so cute seeing them jumping on this huge ball...

Didn't think it was so funny the next day though, when I found the ball looking like a driven twice over jellyfish...

Is OK hun - Stickchick has volunteered hers (her mum is local so I'm sorting out a transfer of goods over the weekend!). Thank you very much tho :)

I got into so much trouble last night when I got home btw - 4 cats sniffing me and stepping back wanting to know who the hell I'd been messing around with!! What a cute kitty your tortie is! So friendly and so cuddly!
