Hello
The fork gaiters on my '92 Honda Dominator NX650 are starting to crack and show the fork.
First off, how important is it to have the gaiters in perfect condition? (ie - no cracks or holes on front side.) And can you find gaiters that don't require removing the whole fork?
And second, does anyone know of an online store or parts catalogue where I could find fork gaiters and other similar parts for my bike for cheap? I don't care if the parts are genuine Honda for things like this, just cheap! I always like to use the local shop, but things are tight and the pocket is winning over my ethics!
Any info would be of great help!
Cheers,
Andrew

Can't be as CHEAP as Steam with my suggestion ( I hope your spend a bit more on your loved ones!:bleh:)
Delving deep into the memory banks here so forgive me if the details may be incorrect.
The Domi would have 41 or 43mm fork stanchions and you can buy aftermarket fork gaitors from your local usually for somewhere close to $60ish(Cemoto brand from memory and they do red ones) I'm pretty short of funds too so $60 is quite a stretch but chipped fork staunchions (worst case) at $300 plus to repair is just ripping.
You'll have to pull the forks out to do this though but you can just slip the out of the clamps enough to remove the old boot( if you haven't just sliced it off) and slide the new ones on. You could probably do it without even taking the wheel out, just remember to take the brake caliper and speedo cable off. You should be sweet from there.
Good luck!

Nice work Steam! I'm planning on selling the bike some time in April, so I think I had better go with proper gaiters to help the resale value. Otherwise, I like the idea!
Sully60: Thanks for the info. My local said about $80 for a pair, so that's not too far off. Any idea if aftermarket gaiters for the XR would fit? Just thinking it might be a bit cheaper. It doesn't seem like as big of a job as I thought, so not so dauting now, thanks for the info.
Cheers

Gaiters are gaiters; I have no idea what mine are off. Some kind of early 70s Honda twin, I think. Just get the dimensions for your forks and ask your motorcycle shop what kind of aftermarket ones will fit. $80 seems high. The other place you can look is eBay, lots of that kind of stuff on there. Mine came from eBay, about $15 shipped.

$8o for fork gaiters:shit::gob:
I bought a pair for Kanny's Volty, (admittedly smaller than a Domi) for $15 from Boyds in Hamtown. After market should set you back $35-40 max.
