The rear shock on my VFR is buggered. It shat all it's oil and it bounces all over the place. How much is a rebuild going to set me back? Where's the best place to go to (locally perfurably, can't ride anywhere holding onto it).

Might be worth ringing around to see if you can get a good deal and look at couriering it there if the courier and the rebuild are still cheaper than a rebuild alone.

Pop down the road and ask the guys at Cycleworks.

Boyle Kawasaki just did a refurbish on mine it cost me $120. Bear in mind that wasn't a full rebuild. PM Robert or Shaun - I can't remember what Robert's new company is called... there's a thread somewhere here about it... He doesn't like RF shocks but he might be more pleasant about VFR's...

I've sent a PM to Robert and wait to hear from him. I'll go to Cycleworks if that doesn't pan out.

When did I say ''I dont like RF shocks'' ? If I have regularly pointed out the shortcomings of mass produced suspension units and it has jerked a number out of their comfort zone then I plead guilty...

With respect to shock rebuilds it amazes me the amount of ( cheap ) bodgy work that is going on, especially given that peoples safety and lives are at stake.
