SH16 - Community Service Announcement (15 December)

I have been asked to post that there 2 cops on SH16, one a mufti at the north end of Peak rd and another at the north end of Kaukapakapa.

The Peak Rd one will be under the oak tree by the church I imagine. And the Kaucop one just as you leave the town northbound before the 100kph sign. People see the sign and the open road and hit the gas .But technically you're still in the 50kph area. Very lucrative those two places.
There's very often a scorpion hanging around one or other. The other place that is very common is at the bottom of that long hill just after you leave Wellsford coming south.

When northbound, I make a point of sticking rigidly to the speed limit until I pass that sign. I can't imagine that anyone who travels SH16 regularly isn't aware of that particular speed trap location.

Still... it is in a town, after all. One shouldn't go fast through towns. Isn't there a residential driveway or two just before that 100kph sign?

I wonder how many mishaps there have been in Kaukap over the years due to vehicles maintaining open-road-ish speeds through it.

Edit: I even got breath-tested once, there, driving north at about 9pm on a Friday on my way to Dargaville. Now that's what I call a sensible use of policing resources. Got breath-tested again in Maungaturoto that night, too. Good stuff.

i went up there on the 15th, about 12pm i didnt see any cops, and my radar didnt go off once :| but i could of been looking at my radar so much that i didnt see the cops....
