Well. What next. A manufacturer other than Shoei makes a helmet that fits the fuller-headed gent. An HJC CL-SP Osiris MC-5 in XXXL. And I have procured one.
Initial impressions are that it fits well, although the snugness afforded by Mr Shoei's padding is a bit lacking. The chin-strap sits across my larynx rather than under my jaw, there's a bit of optical distortion in the visor and the D rings aren't as sorted as a Shoei. It doesn't appear to be any more or less noisy (rather it's differently noisy) and the extra 100g isn't that perceptible. But for the TSS special price (about half that of a Shoei) I reckon it's worth a go.
I shall provide a more fulsome account once a few more km have been spent inside it.
* Because Noddy won't pay the ransom.
