"Danger Will Robinson, danger" - I did the same and now I've lost my 1200 Sportster to 'er in-doors, our fuel bill has doubled and now both bikes require new rear tyres....argh, it's endless, all is lost!!

AND worse, she actually loves it and can't wait for "our next ride" (next longish one will likely be Woodstock Rally).

It wasn't until I got my m50 that my wife would even think of getting on the back of a motorbike with me; now she loves going for a ride in the weekends, assuming we can find a child minder. I think she'd love a Yamaha 650 cruiser or similar, but small steps.

Well done on getting back in the saddle.

Goodonyer both!

Now having got the Missus back on pillion and enjoying it she's thinking about getting her own bike. Have to start on a 250, but she likes the Virago/Intruder cruisers, so we'll see what the new year brings...

Great to have something you can do together now the kids are all off our hands, eh?

My wife and I went for a ride today..

Neither of you should be riding, the lawns need mowing

No,the kids aren't off our hands yet.More riding was done today - our 14 year old son is learning to ride the old TF100 in the park....he's being very scientific about it,no hooning yet.And my 26 year old daughter came over for a ride on it too, first time back on a bike for nearly 10 years for her....damn,she's a loose unit on a bike.

Yes we have that same problem...

The infinite improbability drive is improbable and probably however unlikely probably going to work, I know this quote has nothing to do with this thread, but that’s how the infinite improbability drive probably works.

Although my eldest (21) has had a short ride on the GSXR he has little interest in motorcycling other than the occasional offroad.
However No 2 (17) has had a scooter & now has had a car for 12 months. I convinced him to get his MC learners last week & he had his first road ride on saturday. He was most proud of his first biker wave! He handled the GN well & only required a little road positioning advice. No 3 son (9) had his first open road pillon whilst following his big brother & rather enjoyed it. Thanks Jamo for the GN loan - It's prob going to cost me another bike as he still has another year at high school.

Jeez, you're a lucky bugger Motu. If I could get just one of my lot onto bikes I'd be happy. The wife last rode in the mid 60s, too late for her to return. Two sons packed it in when they got married, none of the grandsons show any interest. Looks like I'm last in the line.:weep:

So cool, Motu!
We ride together heaps and it is always great fun.
Just recently we ended up taking the cage to Taupo. We haven't been anywhere in the car for yonks....really scary experience! Here we were trapped in this metal enclosure together for an hour and a half...we had to actually talk to each other!
Bikes are way better!

Good on ya. Mrs Oakie got back on in May this year after a 25 year break and now it's always her asking if we can go for a ride. (Of course I haven't yet said "lets stay at home and do the housework")

So, what are you getting to replace it?

I have, of late, whiffed from the Deep South a slight whiff of a man who doth protest too much when it comes to 'just cruising' and 'not needing performance'.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if we saw scumdog on something rather faster than a Sportster at some point in the near to distant future.

Meh, got to make do with the 'Tequila Sunrise' - me Superglide T-Sport, 25kilowats of raw power mate, and so comfy I can ride it all day (nay, all week) and not have any aches or pains..

Until Dangerous finishes 'glueing' my XN85 back together - THEN I'll be a real sprotsbike rider, no chicken-strips, knees grazing the seal on every corner, doing runners (from myself?) and whinging on KB about the tickets I get...
