Hey Guys

Just wondering if you guys could help me out? Im staying in christchurch for a few days and was wanting to do some shopping for bike gear for myself and my wife. Just wondering if you guys could hook me up with some places that have good prices or a large range of gear. Ie jackets boots gloves etc. How do prices fair to Australian prices? Anyways wanted to do some shopping for bike gear and look at a few bikes while im here. So any info and addresses would be great.

Cheers
Ray

Nice to meet you all :)

You'll find that the big city stores in Australia have a way better selection of stuff and similar or better prices to what you will find at retail in New Zealand. But good luck with your search and enjoy your stay this side of the dutch.

The bike shops sell a lot of gear also have a look at Budget Motorcycle spares, they have a good range, however I suspect you will find the prices here comparable to if not more expensive that Australia.

The majority of bike shops are down Manchester Street, near Moorehouse Avenue. Pricey compared to the internet or the USA...

Yes, most of the bike shops on Manchester st carry gear, but the range isnt great, (if you dont want black pants then dont bother looking).

Start on Manchester St - a good selection of shops (HD, Honda, Suzuki, Triumph) but average selection of gear (Moorhouse Ave end). Rolling Thunder (cough cough) the HD dealer on Manchester St have a lot of HD branded gear if that yanks your chain.

There is a leather shop on the Tuam, Colombo St corner (a block or so from the Manchester shops so an easy walk) - the owner is a bike fan and carries a interesting selection of bike gear down the back of the store and worth a look.

Then head East down Ferry Road and there is a Yamaha/BMW/MV dealer on the right. Carry on and Ferry will take you to Waltham Rd and Budget Motorcycles who have an OK selection of riding gear.

Most shops don't carry a huge range but a good average selection.

I was very tempted to send you down Colombo St to Peaches & Cream to have a look at their leathers - but that's an Adult sexy shop! Would have been very funny though

I spent some time there this year and bought some leathers from mars leathers in the city for $AUD1050 and then got the GST back. Depends on where in aus you go ...

Here's a couple and just ask them to head you in the right direction for others. Big ticket items i usually get from the US.
Cheers.

Cool thanks guys, went down manchester st today it was pretty good. I think in Australia we have a lot more range, and similar pricing. There were a few things cheaper but nothing special really. Also doesnt seem like you guys sell much dainese over here. Thats a shame that stuff fits me perfect.

Anyways thanks for the help, most appreciated

Just Motorcycles sell Joe Rocket gear as well as other bits & bobs but they are mainly bikes. You'll find them at Hawke st New Brighton -next to the bottle store. Can't remember the exact number but it's roughly here. You'll see the bikes first.
