I have been instructed to put the mighty Frog up for sale.

1998 RG150 32,500km.

We've had this bike for just over a year - had done 26,000km when we bought it and had a new chain, recent top end rebuild, new plug and new air filter at that time. I changed gearbox oil 2,000km ago and have kept the chain properly lubed and tensioned. Bike has nearly 3 months registration left and nearly 6 months WOF. I have replaced the shit tyres that were on it with Bridgestone BT039SS tyres (seriously sticky AND great in the wet). New clutch cable fitted (Mav snapped it about 3 months ago :Pokey:). New battery fitted about 3 months ago too.

This bike has seen Hellraiser, jrandom and Chickadee through their full tests.

Reluctant sale - $1,800 ono

And another couple of pics.....offspring not for sale....

bike is black due to having slid along the ground a bit. Not too bad - mainly cosmetic - learner sliding from the days when it had nasty plastic tyres instead of the fine rubber boots he wears now.

ajturbo

the $ 800 one needed a indicator and a foot peg...

the other needed 0... nothing

this was raced all year in the vic winter series... luke managed pole postion... i managed 8th-ish...
(both bikes were thrashed all year.... infact on the $800 one i even saw16,000.rpm..... woops wrong gear... hahahha)

did i say these were road worthy?...

did i say that they were RACED?...

one WAS crashed... albeit gentaly...

these were both brought to be raced...

if i were to want a road rego'ed one, $ 1800 would be a steel!

i have seen them go for 3k...

infact i would be interested..if i had the $$$... would be a great road trip from southland to wellywood on a 150!....:woohoo:

but then you did say that "jrandom " had used it..:shit:

My RG's not a race bike, if someone wanted to they could deregister it, however it's an awesome RG - I'd rather see it go to a newbie to get them a good start.

$1800 for a road legal starter bikes pretty sweet when you consider most crappy 250's of older years are $4 grand or more.

Saw quite a few RG's for sale over this past year asking for more, most in crappier condition with higher miles.

Will be advertising in the local rag and probably Trademe.

$800 or $1000 for a strictly racing (deregistered) RG probably is about right.

Agreed! You also don't "quickly" get bored with them. Heaps of fun in a small bike. :niceone:

Yes, I'll chip in here and say that IMHO, the RG150 is the best learner bike out there. Such a pity you can't buy them new anymore. Fast enough to do anything you want on, razor-sharp but very friendly handling, comfy to ride, very reliable if you do the basic things required to look after it.

McJim and Chickadee's Crazy Frog is a sweet little machine. At this price someone should just buy it right now.

[/I].

Very easy for a nooooooooooooob to learn to work on if need be though.. Despite knowing parts as "that thing" and that "other thing" LOL

Are these bikes 2 stroke, fast (compared to a 250 4 stroke twin) and reliable

Compared to a 4 stroke twin 250? Yep they're fast. They are reliable if looked after - plugs, rings, gear oil and proper 2T oil.
If you're talking about a GSX250 for example the RG150 is really nimble too coz it weighs a lot less. Tyres are cheaper.

The mighty Frog has been sold. I hope the new owner gets as much enjoyment from the bike as we did.
