I take it the cops have no idea who the guy is by looking at the footage?
Suggest taking it to some of the south Akl stations and showing them.. he will be knowen to police.. somewhere.
Also try Mt Wellington. theres a few gang houses in their area.

no he is well known to them they know who it was just waiting to catch up with him over some other stuff they want him for.

This is what a bike thief looks like.

Great that you could get a picture but why the hell didnt you try and stop him if you saw it happening!! I know the cops say not to interfere and all that but if I saw some twat doing that to my bike he would have a serious case of a tyre iron around the back of the skull syndrome coming his way right fast all the while as someone is calling both the cops to inform that there is a burglar caught in the process of his crime ready to be collected and an ambulance to say there is a bleeding man lying on the side of the footpath with serious head injuries and he cant stem the blood flow as his hands are cable tied to his ankles!!!!

It is most likely taken from a CCTV camera......

Which means he got hold of the film after the fact.....
He or the police would have had to get the film footage and then all watched it to see if anything was in fact caught on the camera in that area.

Taken at 6am, means most people are asleep.

New security device idea, detachable gear leaver/lockable clutch..

Chuck it into 1st, remove gear leaver, lock clutch.. 80% of the thieves can't remove your bike without making themselves more noticable with more people or a car and trailer..

Here's a $390 tracker on trademe. Well worth it if you can wire it to a bigger battery.

Snitch is ok, but very limited units. They are very basic and generally quite expensive.

There is also black hawk, Here I am, and even my work makes up a GPS tracking unit!! I was going to set our one up so that when it moves it will activate and phone you (SMS is too slow and unreliable) and then start tracking.

Only down side is that you need an active internet connection to track them with a PC is you wanted to follow them in your car.

If anyone is interested I'll be setting up a trail for Aaron on his new bike. Probably RRP for around $700 ish.

Value for money tho. When 10 cops can do 100 drunks in the day thats better than 5 cops for 10 days catching the one bike theif. Fuckin' sucks and won't make Barty feel any better at all but it's a business and in the end they want value for money. Note the cops were already after this guy tho. Lets hope he is one of thise (and it happens lots) who gets pulled DIC, search the car, find some hot gear and place of residence is the "club" HQ and thats how they get the warrant. The cops know there will be stuff but have to get a warrant and get thru the gang lawyers who I'm sure get paid quite nicely!

Everything is arse about face in this country these days, the bloody "criminal" is the one who should be worried about "consequence" not the good guy's. :oi-grr:
