What do ya think of this ?,although different its looks like most other sport/super bikes coming out now as they all wind tunnel their bikes and end up with the same fairing designs..

just read about it in the latest BikeRider mag and according to KTM, this 1190cc v-twin motor pumps out 155HP/120 Nm of torque(Borat says "sexy Time") and weighs a hefty 199.5kg(quite alot considering equivalent other bikes in this area) with a full tank of gas. is all i can say,and i want one

although no word on the RRP its said they want to make it "affordable" to the general public (dont we all ;))

:that dashboard is enough to give you one serious headache

Hell yes

Single cylinder ftw, i would be dead keen on one of those rc4 singles next year when some more moolah is in my back pocket, what do you guys think the price on the thumper would be like? 16k-18k? round the gsxr600-750 mark?

Mmmm... the RC4 does look very nice, as does the 690 Duke. They sell the 690SM for $16k so I'd say your guess would be right.

Got 6 months of rehashing the 08 models to go yet ;)

I think it's fucking ugly.

And fucking sexy.

And I reckon KTM's idea of "affordable" will still be like $30k.

For that sort of cash I'd go 848 if I was getting a twin.

is it? most of the 17x kg weights of the jappa litre bikes are based on dry weight. Add the fuel and oil this sounds competitive....

Looks the schizzle, nizzle.

Yea i like the colour scheme really stands out amunsk all the other sport bikes.mmm yea but id say that it would still be heavier than most jap bikes even when they are fully wet .and as most companies glote about dropping even 1kg off their bike weight .....the KTM does weigh alot in that respect.

Somehow doubt the LC4 bodywork will look anything like that.
Still, I'll be having a close look when the time comes, 78hp @ 138kg is a bloody good start.

gsxr1000 2008 model

172 kg dry weight
17.5 litres of fuel
4 litres of oil
2 litres of coolant
a litre of fork fluid all around
half a litre of brake fluid all around
(estimation here except for fuel tank and dry weight)

so that comes to: 197kg

interesting...

Do we really care about 3 KG's? You can skip lunch and shed that off your overall weight if you want...

Sneaky PR wording only mentions the tank of gas.. It might also need the rest of it also.

for $30K or there abouts I would expect full ohlins package and a proper tacko - all digital doesn't do it for me

people like myself who thought they'd never cross over to the nekkid trail bike style are now completely converted and it's KTM's first attempt at such a style.

Well that was their first Road bike, and what they spat out, as you say has impressed a lot of people, and now this one moves from their Trail type to more traditional sport bikes... it will be very interesting to see how the new comer copes in this rather competitive market!

LOL...tell me about it! My "tail bike" owes $29,000 atm but it's worth every penny....to me.

The RC8 will attempt to "compete" against the 1098's,MV's and RSVR Factory's which is a tall order but from my experience with KTM products to date I'd say they'll do more than fine :2thumbsup
I mean look at what happened with their introduction of the Superduke alone...people like myself who thought they'd never cross over to the nekkid trail bike style are now completely converted and it's KTM's first attempt at such a style.

Ok ok....back to my bourbon

But then add on some coin for decent suspension..... it would be getting close

Where you get 12k from?

GSX-R1000K7
Priced from; $21,000.

Probably a fair competition point in the Jap brands.

New Retail price of $1899 for an Ohlins Shock +
2,843.10 for forks... off international websites converted to NZD

And thats 26k ish + some labour costs for a bike that will devalue faster than the KTM

They won't be here until prolly April/May '08 and I'd be very surprised whether a Dealer will put one up as a demo due to the low numbers coming in.
I know that none had a demo for the Superduke-R this year but hell,I just had to have one

Maybe a tough bike to sell when people want to keep up with their mates on 600s.

I love the idea and really want them to make it.

I doubt anyone will make a proper 400cc sports bike again, so this is as close as we could get. I even more hope this re-opens the ultra-light sports bike niche again. In this fantasy land I have bikini models for bedroom buddies. And yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if it cost as much as a GSXR750*

Women and midgets'll would love it.

Singles and small light bikes with small tyres are so much fun when you get it just right that hopefully people will see past that limitation.

* So did the NC30 and NC35 back in the day.
