Actually I think its another 38 bucks a year we will be paying by the look of it, and according to the acc, without cross compensation our cost would be 1500 a year!

It's a bit on the pricey side. Shouldn't they look at other revenue raising methids to actually help make things fairer. Compulsory insurance for cars would be a good start!

Its very cheap.
The actual cost of motorcycle injuries is 10x what they charge you.
Compulsory 3rd party insurance ? Yeah, go for it.
Will cost you though. About $10k for my household - your mileage may vary.
Go online and get a quote for your car from a pommy insurer. Just fill out the form as if you live in the UK, then come back to us if you think its still a good idea.Don't forget to multiply your UK price by 3 to convert to NZ Peso.

Well car insurance isn't ACC for a start. The ACC levy on petrol is also increasing as well. The ACC website says the $50 increase is the average cost per car including the petrol levy. Bikes ? With the number of fatalities lately we'll probably be priced of the road.

IMHO the best way to collect ACC for motor vehicle accidents is to put the entire cost onto fuel.
Covers those who don't register all their vehicles, using "plate du-jour" (me!)
Covers quads and tractors and motorboats all of whom get ACC but don't pay..
Is un-avoidable..
And instead of putting $.40 a litre on fuel for carbon tax, then sending the money to a nice clean nuclear country like russia, we could put $.40 on fuel for ACC and get the best accident medical cover in the world, while still getting the drop in vehicle usage that the carbon tax was supposed to do.

That would only provide extra ACC revenue. Insurance would not pay for personal injury etc.

This common sense idea is exactly current BRONZ policy. And the policy that we have submitted to ACC and the government for at least the last three years . And been ignored of course.

Probably because it's really unfair to cagers :bleh:
We use a disproportionately high amount of ACC $$. Yet if we were taxed on fuel, because bikers use less fuel, we'd be contributing less towards ACC funds. Doesn't really add up.
Would be nice, though :niceone:
