Use AVG on my pc but recently gone online with a mac. can I use AVG for a Mac or do they have a mac version.??

macs dont get viruses ( i think) could be wrong have been in the past ..once

hi Skyryder - like you I have recently gone from a PC to a Mac and I don't think AVG do an anti virus package for the Mac - cheers :mellow:

i have had macs for 6 years and never had a virus or any trouble with all the other ilnesses that pcs get

I'm same as jimjim. I think the whole architecture of Macs (similar to linux) makes it hard to 'infect' with viruses. Might be wrong.

Lets please not make this an anti-pc/anti-mac thing.

There is one Trojan in the wild for the Mac if you're using OS X. Currently advertises itself as a codec for Quicktime.

There is no free antivirus software but McAfee, Symantec and Sophos do sell antivirus software.

I've only had one virus on a Mac and that was under OX 9. Been on a Mac full time since '92. Can't remember the name of it but it made the Mac do random restarts. The hole has since been plugged (it was a Quicktime bug).

I've a nice little Mac virus here that I wrote on one of my dev boxes for kicks... sure it was a little challenging, but definitely not impossible... knowing what I know now, I'd be getting a virus scanner if I were using a Mac on the net.
