I had an alloy one on the Busa but it wasn't gussetted enough and bounced so much that my Bell X90 kept shutting down.

A super stiff carbon one would be the go, or a perspex one fitted as part of the the windscreen.

Hope you haven't bought that new radar mount. This thread is redundent now with detectors to be banned next year.

I can see the Trademe adds now;

For sale to lowest bidder, my shares in Radardirect. Free radar to sucessful bidder

Question- How are radar detectors legal??? Not that I have anything against them, I just would have thought that they would have been banned or something.

Cheers

Ok so this might have answered my questions. So the goverment/police have decided to stop them?

I would like to see the stats on accidents involving vehicles with radar detectors. My guess is:

There are no stats collected
The accident rate is possibly lower for those vehicles

This is just another way of pissing us off.

What makes you think they are going to be banned next year?

Radar mounts are great for the video camera. Not that I film my illegal exploits!

It's been all over the news all day! :doh: The sneaky pricks are raising registration and fuel costs (ACC) over Christmas too! :eek: John.

You could be right - they may not be banned but it may be an offense to have one active in a vehicle on her majesty's road. The penalty will be demerit points.

Mine is already banded. I place a rubber band around the bike mount!

See my comment on the other thread. Rather than ban them, the Govt is going to impose a tax and 25 demerits. Just like they wont ban ciggies but happily rack in the tax. It's always about the money.
