ZZR250 riders

Hey guys,

I'm interested in the ZZR250 and am wondering if someone wouldn't mind trading bikes for a few hours one day and going for a little ride so I can get the feel of one. That would really make my day :D Been curious about it being a version of my bike that by the sounds of things handles alot nicer than mine.

Not sure it'd be the best example to test...I think something is a bit out with the rear shock...seems to bottom out almost all the time

I am currently a ZZR250 rider. I have TSSes shop loaner on loan whilst the Mighty FJR has its 50,000km service.

It has been a few years since I have had an opportunity to go for a fang on a 250 and it is nice to be reminded about this genre of bike.

The ZZR250 is great fun. Like most 250s it has an engine that is more than willing to get its neck wrung, for no significant gain in acceleration compared with a larger capacity engine. 8,000rpm in top to move along with motorway traffic is a bit different from the 3,500rpm I am normally used to, that's for sure. This is the same inline twin donk that Kawasaki puts in a number of models. Mrs H had an EL250 Eliminator powered by the same engine, and they are fantastic. Way better than the Suzuki GSX250 on most scores.

But the ZZR is light, agile and well balanced. The seat height is low and comfortable. The clip-ons are nicely placed and not in some sort of Spanish Inquisitional hard-out squiddly small penis way. The riding position is comfortable, and I'd be happy to do 500km days on the saddle of one of these.

The gearbox is typical notchy Kawasaki fare. I love the neutral finder.

Brakes? Good. TSS have their shop bike on Pirelli Sport Demons. A good choice.

If the speedo, temperature gauge and left-hand turn indicator worked, this would be a great little bike for a somebody killing time on a restricted license who wanted to have some fun riding.

There's a couple good places to go out West, out to Piha and back is always good fun.

either way they will both only ever be a sports styled commuter.

suspension is too shit for the open road......

if the had decent suspension it would be fine

from owning a gpx ....

my gn250 i had before that....had better suspension.

Just because it has the same engine as the gpx, it's hardly the same bike. Also pretty sure he said he wasn't looking for the GOD OF ALL INLINE FOURS ZXR ROARRR!!!!!!!! and just wanted opinions on the ZZR.

I've ridden from Auckland to Tauranga on my ZZR quite a few times. Have found it fantastic on the open road :yes:

but then I've never riden a zxr

my nephew has a zzr250 and i've ridden it a few times, once from hamilton to auckland. it was very nice and comfortable. held the road well and good brakes as well.

i've told him that if he finishes with it, i'd take it off his hands. he's under strict instructions NOT to sell (except to me), I like it that much!

I had this bike on Monday while my bike was in getting a new battery.
Great little beastie, and there was no question between this and the loaner GN250 :)

I found the left-hand turn indicator worked, but did take quite a bit of force and jiggling to get it to engage, would have been nice to have a speedo, and I did find the throttle a little stiff.
Also looks like I was very lucky to get this bike on Monday with you managing to pass through the van on it untouched on the Friday before. (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=64692)
