I've got mine in my user notes. That way only Senior Members can read it. Either that or put it in your Bio bit

"Could we please have the first names of users?" you say in this title.
What's your first name anyway? Why not just use your first name as your user ID like I do?
McJim
23rd December 2007, 08:57
Do what I did. Go on lots of rides and organise a few yourself then meet these people in meatspace - that way you'll learn all their names.
By the way - looked at your profile. Interesting dichotomy there - a 'cellist on a Suzuki.
Q. How do you fit entire orchestral 'cello section on a Suzuki?
A. Make one the leader and the rest will just crawl right up his arse!
You can then make a joke about trumpet players if you like
Q. What's the difference between a soprano singer and a Ferrari?
A. Most Trumpet players have never been in a Ferrari!
Can you guess my first name?

Nasty
23rd December 2007, 10:20
I was nicknamed nasty many years before I started on here so I guess I will stick to it ... I met a kber yesterday at the local shops and he asked if I was on KB and knew me as nasty .. If I feel like it I tell people my name if I don't feel like I want them to know I won't ,, not that that happens often as you know ;) but if you are down as a buddy you will see it anyways :)

The relationships on here are made with user names, not first names.
Often, when I am introduced to someone I forget their real name anyway.
I'm quite happy to be known as " 'tart from HB".

And she's hard, baby!
My name's Tom. It's such an uncommon, rare and unusual name that I didn't make it as my KB name for fear the police would track me down.

i answer to pretty much anything EXCEPT my real name, lol. i live by an abbreviation of my full name, and am tagged as such as work.
i do answer to sun [though crashe will argue that] and while in canada lived for 6 months as "kiwi"... thats what people called me, and what i replied to. my partner there thought kiwi was my real name for months.
i find it easier to work on usernames, as often i can match a user with their avatar and remember it easier.

Subike
23rd December 2007, 18:01
Its so common that you would forget it anyway.
I prefer to use our KB name, as it alludes to a bit of personality
and puts us all apart from the crowd,
And also some cases, our bike will tell you who we are.

23rd December 2007, 18:04
good point, subike. i think this year ive met about 3 different johns, but im never 100% i get the name right, so user name basis it is! only time i will use first name is if i see them regular off site.

Some members won't want their personal details listed publicly, even if it is only their first names.
The buddy system takes care of that - people who want you to know who they are will add you to their buddy list.

Hi McDuck5n.
I'm EJ, I'm known as EJ, my ID starts with EJ, you know me as EJ and I like to be called EJ.
EJ = An Asian abbreviated name. It used to be a name that many kiwis can't be bothered pronouncing it right, so now I won't be bothered expanding the abbreviation lol
Mine is Hey (as in "Hey - you!")
or "You!" or "Bro!" or "Dude!" or "Oi!" etc etc......:lol::lol:

I can't let people know my real name, it's too secret.
So I chose to disguise it heavily.

My online handle in other places is splatman or splatty. I didn't think it was wise using that on a bike forum - didn't want it to be an omen lol.
So, I used *all* my imagination and came up with my username on KB. The TG part was added coz Matt was taken... I am in Papamoa now but it's sorta part of "TG" so yeah.
