Did you take it for a test ride at all before you bought it?
Is it just an onset of "newbie death-grip"?

No it's not normal. Pins and needles probably means you're taking too much weight on your wrists.
I'd guess your arms are straight at the elbos and you're not gripping the tank with your legs.
You want to grip the tank so you can use your back to take the weight off your wrists. Keeping your elbow bent will help too.
Could also be your wrists just need a bit of strength. Could try getting a powerball (http://powerballs.co.nz/). They're heaps of fun to use and work out your whole arm.

you a smoker?? alot of smokers have poorer than normal circulation..then add vibes in [tl1000 vibrate a bit] and it cut of your circulation...I been there... helps if you get some absorbant pro grip or similar handle bar grips...there are ones designed to help reduce vibes...especially in the MX range...also heavier bar ends can help no end as well!!

Progrip 714 (rally grip) should solve part of the issue. Too smaller diameter grip can cause similar symptoms as well.

It may be as simple as adjusting the brake, clutch levers to straighten your wrists more when riding.

Ah, yes, sportsbikers wrist. I remember it well. You do get hardened to it, just push through the pain :msn-wink:

I got that on my GN and I think it was due to the bike vibrating too much haha! Now I'm on a CBR and I don't get it at all... So it's definitely not the sportsbike positioning for me! I do feel the extra stress of the weight on my wrists though, but no pins and needles.

Also read post 21 on this thread below, as it could be the start of Carpel Tunnel Syndrome.

Or else relax your grip on the handlebars.... or are the handlebar at the correct adjustment to your size and arm length.

1. Get some nice gel grips to absorb vibration.
2. Get some good heavy bar-ends to reduce vibration.
3. Stay 'light on the bars' with such a bike I assume it'll take time but I used to ride a 'blade and had the same death-grip problem.
4. If you're riding with skin-tight race gloves get something with more padding / breathing room.
5. Get use to it / harden up / deal with it / get your 'pianist's flick' going to recirculate the blood.
6. Quit smoking. Or smoke more. Who really knows?
7. Welcome to KB!

The TL bars are on a strange angle, if they don't suit you, then you get the problem you have.
Heli-bars are a bolt-on replacement that has a far more friendly angle on the bars, much easier on the wrist
Not sure who sells them locally, google it, look on ebay??

Hi there .. .welcome to KB ... things to remember before going to your doctor in a panic over the many diseases it 'could' be .... like magic fairy said try altering the angles of the levers .. this worked for me on two of my bikes .... I have always got pins and needles when riding ... I have tried sports bikes and cruisers and am now on a tourer ... by trying to alter position of hands etc .. looking at the vibration through the bars .. and eliminating non-natural causes first you can save on doctors bills. Another thing is to try taking other bikes out for test rides and see if the same thing happens ... if it does look at natural causes ... if it doesn't it is the riding position ... just my thoughts.

Try not putting so much weight on your wrists by gripping the tank with your legs more.
Works for me :)
