OK, what is the most embarrassing thing that can happen to you when you are out bike shopping and you go to take a bike for a ride???

You DROP it... :brick:

Where is the most embarrassing place for this to happen?
Yep - right outside the shop

Who did it happen in front of?
EVERYONE including at least TWO KB'ers that I know of.... one of whom leapt to the rescue and hit the kill switch while I limped off in another direction to fume (not so quietly  ) as they righted the bike and surveyed the damage. Full marks to Todd from Motormart and Mark for not making me feel like a complete f*ckwit... That came later from one particular quarter...... who kindly offered to announce the incident to the world on my behalf :mega:

Unbloodybelievable :eek5: AND I did it after signing the liability form.... ha ha ha

Not my day you would think???

But no - the day got a hell of a lot better - I took the bike for a burst (and there were more than one or two bursts!!) up to places north (have you got a life now Hooks??) and had an absolute blast of a ride :2thumbsup - came back and handed over the dosh...

I am now the proud owner of a bright yellow 2002 Ducati 748 - still in pretty mint condition despite the indicator cover and mirror damage :thud:

I wonder if the boss will let me have ANother paid holiday just to ride my bike around lot...

I have to confess though that I did that after bringing the beast out of storage... I took it to work at Ohakea and right in front of the Officers Mess I dropped it whilst backing it up .... my foot slipped and over she went ... :pinch:
Well now you have post some pics ... so get a camera and do it !! Well done and congrats on the new addition to your family ....Oh by the way .... does this mean the B4 sleeps outside now ..????

How does a big bike compare to your B4 now?? - similar.... hot, noisy and feckin' fast... I would say though that there may a wee bit of competition between them now..... and I know which one I am pickin' to win... :ride: ha ha ha

I guess the bike was just letting you know whose boss: ...and rightly so I say.... This afternoon however, I thrashed it for its impudence - as you do... ummmm but having said that, we have a tacit agreement that it is still the 'boss'...

Excellent choice, and probably the equal in performance to a good Japanese 600 four cylinder so you've stuck with your plan I reckon.

Going on a big ride tomorrow, and you're welcome to join us. Leaving Caltex Upper Hutt at 8:30am, and taking the long way back home.

Well, I haven't been called a quarter too many times before...

Yep, didn't know whether to laugh or cry as I heard the muffled "awhh fuck" only to look up and see a black helmet on it's way to the deck closely followed by the spick and span 748.

It's a pretty good bike alright. I test rode it myself before Her_B4 took the reigns. Doesn't have nearly as much get up and go as a modern 6 hundy, but then it's not supposed to is it. And once the paintwork, indicator, mirror and pride is all fixed it should be a pretty good package.

Enjoy!

Congrats on new bike. I definately know how you feel When I decided to get a bike again after an absence of a few years, I managed to crap off 100m down the road from the shop on a busy main road. Not too much damage to bike, broken finger for me, so I headed to a quiet street. Lots of cars parked on either side of the narrow dead end. Tried to turn round and dropped the bugger. Decided it was not the bike for me and got something else!

If you are based in Picton then another sweet day ride would be over the Whangamoa's to Nelson.... and if ya wanta keep riding head through Nelson out the other side and beat up on the Spooners and Hope saddle as far as Kawatiri Junction turn left and boot it thgough the Wairau Vally back to Blenheim...... just an idea.

Do you know (I just found out today ...) that you can get racks for a Ducati???
And re: your post in the packrack thread, IMO bugger carring a bag on ya back.... now I know a few of you lot up there do, but it would piss me of something big, and I'd hate ta think what 'could' happen if a person with a bag on there back were to slide down the rd.
I notice that your bike is a biposto, so how bout at least a cargo net on the rear seat if you dont like the rack system..... see my pics in that thread.

Congratulations, Her B4! Very nice bike!

Reminds me of that clip that was doing the rounds (I've probably still got it on my home PC). Some Murkn dude proudly filming his brand new yellow Ducati (I think it was a 998??), and the guy riding it (his son? a friend?) stalls it just as it comes out of the gargre, then drops it on the deck. The cameraman can be heard going, "No! Oh no!! Oh No!!!!", and practically crying as he drops the camera to go and attend to his 'baby'.

I wouldn't worry about the cleanliness too much if I were you - I have had a chat to Vicki myself and have received VERY clear intructions... lol You have it back in the shop as we speak and please note that I spent HOURS on it on Sunday night ...... but no matter how much I polished it, the scratches would not disappear!! DAMN!!

why did he let someone ride it??????

yeah I reckon.... :calm: I can evidently do enough damage by myself without giving someone else the opportunity ....

Thanks everyone - 'tis indeed a thing of beauty, and I am over the moon about it - It made me late for work on Monday as I start it up even when not taking it for a ride (sounds awesome in the garage too!! lol) .... just to make sure that it starts you understand..... ha ha ha
