Hey all
Just recently I bought a 1992 CBR250RR to get all my previous riding skills back up to scratch from the 3 years I have been off one.
Im just wanting to know if anyone has some helpful tuning tricks or places that sell parts (Exhausts to be specific) for one of these. All the bike shops in Blenheim are useless and either want to over charge for bits and peices.
Also could anyone tell me about the legality about adding mirror tint to the front windscreen of the bike.
Thanks

Welcome Sniper CBR. Good choice of machine, Slipstream is looking for one similar.
The reason your local bike shops seem unwilling or expensive to help is because there is really not a hell of a lot of performance stuff specifically for 250cc multis in NZ. In regard to exhausts, with a rev ceiling of 19000rpm, an open pipe would be down right obnoxious. The best thing you can do to a bike like that, is change the fork oil and brake pads/fluid and fit a pair of Dunlop GPR70s. Get a good tune up done and practice riding the thing well.
Have a ball man, once again, cool bike :2thumbsup

Yeah White Trash is right. The only performance mod that you can do is get an aftermarket pipe, roo racing (can't find their website) makes one for around $600 i think. But it is really really loud. Most guys take it off after a few weeks because they start to go deaf after a 10 or 15 mins of riding.
As they are they are cool bikes to thrash. Just wait till you get your full and then you can have more hp.

There isnt much in the way of engine tuning that will make the bike any better than it already is. The bike is too highly tuned and I've found that every mod usually causes grief elsewhere.
Best thing I've found with mine is to replace worn parts and keep the chained lubed and properly adjusted.

Good point. On a bike with Sweet FA power, every little bit helps and it sure is noticable if the chain is not lubed and adjusted correctly.

How do you know if it has a rev restrictor?

Also, does the 91 CBR fairing fit on the 92 model, because on just fairings, they make fairings for the 91 model and I was going to save up for it if they are compatible

It looks the same as I mine so I think it would fit

I've done the brakes and put on the GPR70s, they are extremely slippery for the first 1000ks untill I wore them in but now they are great, really sticky when they get warm!
Next on this list will be changing the fork oil, thanks WT didn't think of that.
For my ZXR250 the neptune mufflers where
The round polished or brushed stainless steel muffler is $575.00 inc gst (bolt on)
The round black finish is $630.00 inc gst.
The price for the oval black is $706.00 incl GST.
