Hello old friend. It's been too long. Sure, we've had those intense meetings at Manfield, once a month. Pushing your buttons was forbidden, no lights, no WOF, no road tax. A monthly fling was all it could be.
But now my dear, we can be together again.
I've never felt so comfortable on a bike.
I can't get over the way you can stamp on the gearbox and get the rear a little loose, the way it gets grumpy if keep it below the power, the way it takes off with a firm shove (And maybe a little shake of head) when the power hits. How it feels like you are holding the front axle in your hands, not some clipon bars. The burbling growl that turns into an angry angry scream. The sharp bark as you shift down and match revs. How changing your line mid corner seems to be encouraged. How it falls on it's ear so easily. I went around the basin reserve today and had the sudden thought I was about to get my knee down while wearing my jeans. I was probably miles off though.
I'm in love with my motorcycle all over again.
I did more KMs on my GSXR750 and was pretty damn comfortable with it, but always had to hold back a bit on it for some reason I could never fathom on the road.
Apologies to people living in a particular part of Wellington. I was that fuckwit going up and down your hill deafening all your sheep, scaring your horses and waking the dead.
