I got a couple of CDs for Xmas, and I was putting them into the library (alphabetically by artist) and had to move around some forgotten classics that I hadn't listened to for a while. So heres my take on some of the best albums that you may never had heard:

The Whitlams - Eternal Nightcap
Johnny Clegg - 3rd World Child
The Screaming Jets - Tear of Thought
The Cruel Sea - 3 Legged Dog
The Be Good Tanyas - Chinatown & Blue Horse

Any tips for some new sounds for the new year?

Tool - 10,000 Days

Or any Tool album for that matter, and while you are at it you may as well grab all the 'A Perfect Circle' stuff too.

Biffy Clyro - All of their albums: Puzzle, The vertigo of bliss, Infinity Land, Blackened Sky.

Re-found At The Drive-In recently. 'Relationship of command' was always my favorite.

Which of course leads on to The Mars Volta. I keep coming back to their first album 'Deloused in the comatorium'.

For a bit of whimsy 'The Decemberists' are something I have taken quite a liking too.

So there you go, some albums you may not have heard of.

I've heard of all of those. This is supposed to be a thread about the best albums you've NEVER heard of.I reckon you'd like a bit of Dredg old bean.

Some good solid percussion. 'Catch without arms' would be the place to start.

But there is a whiff of 'Goth rock' (Only the tiniest of whiffs) to it that I find a little corny.

Best album I have NEVER heard? How the phuck would I know? I have never heard it!! Jezzzz.....

But some that I have and you might never have heard:

As I went rummaging through the pile of "Not played all the time" stuff, and memories came flooding back when I saw the covers of Boxer, Scorpions ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ofFaY9P5EKI ), Journey ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sxxOyGK1pMk ), Uriah Heep ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_H3IR6XBRI ), EL&P, Colosseum, Sleepy Sleepers ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gIgG5yl9pGc )Herbie Hancock and many more, there was a few that I considered would fit the criteria (well, not the "Albums I have never heard" one, but...)

So here my list:
(Have added a link to music of them, but not always from that particular album)

Bond - Born. A 4 piece of classical playing girls that have some umph!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ZY0xk0VeDs&feature=related

Nightwish - Once. (Could have picked any of their albums really...) from Finland playing "Symphony Rock" with Tarja as singer. Has classical and opera as background.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xAKf1gTx7qM&feature=related
And with new singer Anette: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GdZn7k5rZLQ

Stratovarius - The Chosen Ones. (Again, could have picked any of them, but this is a good start, has the "best" of some of their albums) Fast (without being speed) Metal. I like!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lNLdTfwx5ZQ&feature=related

Astral Doors - Astralism. Hard Rock from Sweden in a 80's style.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jf1JHTCSysM

And some older on Vinyl:

Axe - Nemesis. Hard Rock with melody and lyrics I can relate to: " You might not remember my name, but I think you'll remember tonight..."
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xqzi3VolYdU

Budgie - In for the kill. guitars and more guitars, add to that singing that makes my neck hairs stand up...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=54H3EUAzpVg&feature=related

Barclay James Harvest - Everyone is everybody else. Old. From 74. But never understood why this one has not made the "Best ten albums ever made" list? Warning: If you are depressed, then this one will not help...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c5pxiiZAlVs&feature=related

Babe Ruth - First Base Babe Ruth has to be the best band that never made it big. I have all their albums and they are played still in my house!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RMzhaCCG1So&feature=related

Magnum - Vigilante Nice. Melodical Hard Rock that females tend to like.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aA3iMEfYAVA

Beggars Opera - Act One The "System of a down" of the 70-80's.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XXemomMifvw

Tempest - Living in Fear. What can I say? Classic!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kDfsYh5eHfo

Blackfoot - Marauder At times I hear music today that I think is them. But nope. 4 Blackfoot indians playing Hard Rock.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wVFyyXUAKls&feature=related

WASP - Winged Assasin. The FTW of Heavy Metal. My favorite is : "I wanna be somebody"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pZb3Xya7jQ8

Angel - Angel (No, nothing to do with the Oz The Angels) Another one that somehow slipped between the cracks of the ones who decided what became big and what was forgotten!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8n07qiAo1lM&feature=related

Black Oak Arkansas - Mutha Live All go Arkansas style.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SGAPhLK8qdk

Yesterday and Today - Yesterday and Today Their first. But could have picked any of them. Then again I prefer their earlier stuff. If I could only pick the muzak of one band with me on to an deserted island, Y & T is it.

Tubular Bells - by Mike Oldfield
wasnt so much a fan of the title track (which took an entire side of the LP), but the songs on the other side were great. Standouts would have to be "Shadow on the wall" and "Moonlight shadow"
or maybe i just hang around too many young folk with no taste in music :2thumbsup

U misundersood this: Uriah Heep was not in the list. (Read again) I just mentioned them as bands that are in the pile of "not played for a looong time". The ones I considered albums that perhaps not all would have heard about started under that in my list.

But even then, one of the ones I did not include in the list, but mentioned together with UH, I am sure you would NEVER have heard about Sleepy Sleepers (Check their vid "Too Drunk To Drive" that was attached)

Celldweller - Celldweller

A fantastic album if you like your music a little heavier. It's an unusual mix of dance with metal that works very, very well. The dude does the entire album himself - vocals & all instruments and, despite being recorded it in his basement (hence the name being a contraction of Cellar Dweller) it's a 100% professional effort. The artist is a guy by the name of Klayton.

Contact me if you can't find anywhere to source the album.

That is your opinion. And you are entitled to it. But I disagree re the 33% tag.
So far you have added one band. The rest of your postings have been complaining re what others have added.

It all comes back to what music one listens to. Obscure to one is common to the other. And this thread was about good albums that others might not have heard about. Not just any crap that you picked up from the bargain bin as nobody in their right mind would ever have bought it.

The list I provided was on purpose made up of slightly obscure bands albums I have that I could find on the web so that, if someone wondered what the music is like, they could have a listen.

I have others. But what is the reason to blurt out some band on here that nobody can have a listen to? A little like telling the blind man about the beautiful sunset...

If longevity counts, they formed in 1969 and are still going, but it would help to be a Pom to appreciate them
