38 bikes caught on speed camera boxing day afternoon doing between 110kph and 134kph.
Hard to believe in this day and age so many would have so much complete disreguard for the law.
How is it that speeding is the main cause of accidents and yet 38 bikes can get caught without a single incident?

Unusual indeed ,I`m just glad that the cameras are there for our own safety as opposed to being a revenue gathering device as previously stated,:rofl::rofl:

I refuse to say they are revenue gatherers, either cameras or cops,I now call them invoices, and as such a couple of weeks ago the cheque deposited in the loverly Westpac bank,I wrote invoice number on back where the ticket number could be given.Teller had a look and nearly pissed herself when I told her what it was for.

Nope. I wasnt out there. There is a guy who plays golf and he works on the speed camera part time and said today that he got 38 bikes in 2 hours on the Opiki striaght on boxing day. I told him off and asked why he didnt turn the camera off when he heard the bikes coming. He laughed at me cause he thought I was joking. I wasnt.

Hard to believe
Certainly is hard to believe....easy enough to roll off 10-30 kph between the time of spotting a speed camera and passing it i would have thought, did it three times myself over the last two days.

to be fair they probably dont even know, yet.
Get a striaght road after a long day and I can find myself doing 120-130-140. Sometimes I have come up to a stop and someone will mention something about a speed camera and I didnt see it. Time will tell but at an average of $80 that is a few dozen for Helens new years party.

well the positive of the potential new system is that if you get a one off speed fine and you learn your lesson ,you wont be hit as hard in the pocket as you would now eh

True, but if you do it a second time, it wont take very much to loose your licence, they should have just decreased the price, not increase the demerits aswell. :oi-grr:

Its not in yet, but there still wont be any demerits on speed camera fines, due to the fact they cant prove who the driver is.

oh give that a few years, it will get to the point that if it snaps you it sends a kill command to your bike/car you will then get out and give a blood sample they will fine you on the spot and you cant leave until you pay LOL

There was a guy we will call Cager. He was broke but got flashed by a camera on a straight between Hokitika and Greymouth while speeding to get to his second of 2 jobs (boss was going to cut his hours to next to nothing if he was late) . He was terrified as he couldnt afford a ticket. This is back when speed cameras only ticketed the top percentage of drivers.
Another guy we will call biker realized he was in trouble, and since he had to get his proddy racebike home to Greymouth anyhow he decided to help cager out. He did several high speed passes of said camera (operator was in passenger seat with pillow asleep as he usually was) and got home without killing a bus full or orphans or any kittens.
Cager never got any ticket, to this day nobody knows if the passes by the bike running a license plate that previously belonged to a farm registered TF125 Mudbug had anything to do with it.
Everyone lived happily ever after and never did anything naughty ever again
The end

lol they may want a sperm sample too so they better put some hottie cop chicks in the cop car to do the job. Know they may not put an actual cop chick but a girl in the adult profession(coz its legal now) will do just fine. I bet thta will increase speeding dou lol.

How the hell can 38 riders not see a speed camera van?? Maybe tucked down behind their opaque colour matched screens??

I would say they can see it, but theres a limit on how much speed you can scrub off at short notice.

Oh, of course, they weren't smart or observant enough to see the camera van.
Your other point was that the other vehicles that the camera van man caught speeding were 11 cars, 4 trucks and 2 buses. And they didn't cause any accidents either...do you see the trend developing?

You obviously dont know me do you? I often ramble for hours without making a point. I have a very sexy voice though.
Oh, of course, they weren't smart or observant enough to see the camera van.
Maybe they were scrubbing off speed. Have you been down the Opiki striaghts. It is like 100 fucking miles of dead striaght, flat road. If you want to blow some cobwebs out or have had a long day and getting home you can easy cruise at excess speed. ok. it is about 5 or 6 km with a couple of sweeping bends in it but I wasnt going to make a point.
Your other point was that the other vehicles that the camera van man caught speeding were 11 cars, 4 trucks and 2 buses. And they didn't cause any accidents either...do you see the trend developing?
huh? Who gives a crap what other vehicles were booked during the afternoon? I was talking to Mr Golfer who I speak to often and he knows my bike and suspects (be it right or wrong) I travel beyond the speed limit and mentioned to me that he got 38 bikes on boxing day.
Oh shit, does that count as making a point?
hang on...how do they identify you....by those mythical number plate things??? i think i'm meant to like have one....or something?
WTF are you on about now?
yeah how do they get caught if they have no front plate, unless the camera is like pointing backwards.
Yes it is possible to get a speed camera ticket on a bike. Maybe the camera operater is not a complete moron and thought that more bikes would be heading south rather than north on boxing day due to the widely publizied wanga racers and set up the camera to snap bikes on a 5km striaght piece of road heading south? Or maybe he got lucky.
Flip up number plate and a brain.
Looks like 38 people forgot at least one of those!!
I think camera operaters are getting very good at hising their positions. I have very nearly been caught out a couple of times seeing them ALMOST too late. Only almost though. One of the Manawatu riders got down on Napier/Taupo road by a camera not too long ago without knowing it.

cut it out. I have witnessed Storm speeding. It was in a 50k zone and he made it to 55 and was being towed by a bulldozer but speeding is speeding.
On a side point, I got a letter today telling me that a speeding driver, just like me killed some woman who was training to be a nurse. Everyone should start getting very concerned if there are two of me around.

Probably hidden behind the fence on the 90 degree corner where the cops love to hide! You can just make out the cars if you're heading south, but they are virtually invisible when heading north. I can't really see where else they could be parked as that road has no shoulder for most of it. Unless they found a friendly farmer who let them park in their driveway. Me, I'd tell them to piss off!
I'm wondering if the original poster meant the Himatangi Straights, which is a far more logical place to have a speed camera on Boxing Day?

That makes more sense, the cops and/or speed camera vans are ALWAYS along there - the only place I've ever got a speeding ticket was there, stung by a mufti cop heading towards me early one Sunday morning.

that is, of course, not to say that there *wasnt* one on himitangi striaghts. Just the guy at the golf club was in one on the opiki striaghts. Maybe they worked out that everyone was heading the back way.
