1991 Suzuki GSX-R250 Engine Mount

Hello all. I am a complete bike newbie. I recently purchased the above bike (this is day 4). I was just getting to know the bike (removing fairings, finding what lives where etc) and I have notice that the front engine mount(not quite the mount...but the part of the block that the engine mount bolt passes through) has snapped clean off on the left hand side. Is this common? Or repairable? Can I just get someone to weld something up on the block? I am a little nervous to continue riding daily in case I break the other side. Any help, suggestions etc appreciated.

Yes it can be welded - but you will need to take it to a specialist welder who does a lot of ali. Depending on what has broken and where, it may require an engine strip.
Has the bike been pranged - it is an unusual thing to break in normal use.

oh and a welder should be able to sort you out....

wheel and frame are down your way somewhere....

they know thier stuff..

it should be ok for daily riding....

just be nice to it if ya worried

Cheers for the help, all sorted (I hope). Yes it appears it had been in a prang at some point but had it checked out for alignment and not worth worrying about apparently. Wheel & Frame in Cambridge did the weld as suggested. Pity I can't get it going now...need a new rotor and stator assembly as the magnets have all been smashed - (this is where wheel and frame seem to think the impact was) hopefully nothing bent inside and damage was done on impact. At least now I know why it was slow to start and the battery kept dying on me.

If you're desperate to ride-run total loss. Meaning just leave the charging system out of the bike and charge the battery up fully with a battery charger . -You can ride for about an hour before all dies on ya -so good for a newbee rider doing maybee a 20-30 minute ride
