I will have to do some reading. I wonder if she was another Indira Ghandi, whom the west thought was wonderful but in reality was a lot closer to Hitler than she was to M. Ghandi her famous relative.
I know very little about Bhutto, except that she was one of the more attractive politicians you could hope to find.
Though there was that ex-porn star italian bird a year or three ago. She was alright.

Its all just nuts, what is going on with the crazy's they call humans.
Though we are so far away from it, it does not seem to really mater.
The thing is though, at least it is not unexpected. As is anything to do with Oil, war, or the US of A.
Freedom's of speach etc is one thing, but this shit just takes it to far.

Mohandas Ghandi is not the saint history has painted him. His daughter and grandson both reflect fairly strong racist views that M. Ghandi was propagating via the newspapers of South Africa in the late 19th/ early 20th Centuries in the way they dealt with things like the Sikh revolt and the way Muslims were treated in India post separation. However M. Ghandi set the scene for a peaceful transition from The Raj to self-rule.
Pardon me Paul, but Pakistan IS an Islamist state and always has been. I think you mean we don't want Islamic extremists in power. Bennazir Bhutto and her Husband were both such money laundering crooks that even the Swiss (they still have holocaust victim loot in vaults - including gold harvested from teeth) weren't prepared to stomach their excesses and they were both convicted in Switzerland for fraud.
Both India and Pakistan have managed to avoid the African post-colonial model, but they still have a long way to go. I'm more worried about India making a mad dash for Kashmir while Pakistan is trying to deal with its internal issues. That has potential for a big over reaction from Pakistan.

Happened before, just that a lot of people alive today don't realise or comprehend the fact.

lol, dispite so many computer games on the subject? na, that cant be true.
But any contry that stands for democracy and human rights should be demanding an immediate investigation and bring those responsible to justice, not sitting around talking about how bad it is.
Oh well, wait and see.

Pretty fair bet given that Pakistan is an Islamic republic but as to which Islamists were responsible never a good idea to jump to conclusions where these things are concerned.Nothing in Pakistan,or Iraq and Afghanistan come to that,is black and white, todays enemy is tomorrows ally and there are all kinds of manipulations, plots, schemes and machinations, not least by the West, just been revealed that "Taliban" is a variable term, those who accept bribes, collude with the Western invaders, sorry peacekeepers,no matter how hard they've fought, whatever they've done suddenly become a "Tribal Faction" and a blind eye can be turned, these are the guys who own the poppy fields the British Army have been ordered not to mess with, conversely any Afghan shooting at those he's got the hump about being in his country is automatically "Taliban".Similarly in Iraq, the British Army has finally given Basra to those it was supposedly protecting the population from not long ago and killing British Trops, now ,because it suits, they're the good guys and are even armed and trained at British taxpayers expense while the inglorious retreat is pushed (unsuccesfully)as "job done" by our current Chief Liar.
Back to Pakistan, the very last thing America in particular and the West in general really wants is an Islamic Republic that's shown to work, they've already got a stooge in charge there, they didn't need another one, particularly one who might just have brought peace and calm to a country that really wouldn't suit. Before we start flinging "Religious nutters" tags at Muslims don't forget both Bush and Blair(very recently)have claimed that God told them to invade Iraq,do such creatures really want to see peaceful and prospering Muslim countries like Pakistan and Afghanistan thriving? The Pakistani Intelligence service has links to Al Quaieda, the Taliban,as indeed have the Western security services in the past(now there's a thought for you),these guys keep the lid on things for Musharraf...a guy who wouldn't be in power if it didn't suit the West whatever hypocritical bullshit they spout.Wouldn't be a unique situation if someone thinking he was acting for Al Quaida or whoever had done the deed but un-wittingly via a trail leading back to Pakistani intelligence,up to Musharraf and who knows where from him.If you read "The Gameplayer" by Miles Copeland (father of Stewart Copeland of "Police" fame and an ex C.I.A. guy) you'll read of all kinds of similar stunts pulled in the past.
Bush and Brown both spouted crap about democracy in their condemnation of the assassination, same people who refuse to accept those democratically voted for by the Palestinians,mealy-mouthed shits the lot of them.Trace just about every conflict going on in the world right now back and sooner or later you'll find the sticky fingers of America and Britain in there somewhere.

Well it provoked a response - and taught me not to post after 2 wines as well... Islamic fundementalists is what oi meant.... marginally worse than the christian kind...
I agree with nearly everything posted here but bloody hell - the place is going to hell on a handcart - I'm wondering if ole general wassisname had the right of it afterall? What a scary thought...
I don't know what to think anymore about that part of the world. Empires die there and yet it keeps working, they have atomic weapons and and people mad enough to use them...
What happened to all the reasonable blokes?
