Be keen as for some bacon and egg pie on either the 12/13th weather permitting. Last time I went through Jacksons (show day) the place looked pretty busy and the place to be, Bealy just sucked arse.

I voted for the 12th (in that "other" thread ) but can go anytime, the week of 7-13th, although you can stick the B&E pie up your arse. I'd rather have Steak & Cheese or something yummy from the Sheffield pie shop.

Yeah, I know :Offtopic: but :whocares: - if you're a mod and you have a problem with this, feel free to PM me and we can have a chat about it ... unless you prefer to hide!

Yeah I was suprised at how the place has changed (Jacksons pub that is), last time I was in there back late 90's it was abit of a dive. Damn I could have stayed there all night.

If its sunny and hot next weekend then Porters Pass will be as dodgy as hell, going through there yesterday it was a sea of wet tar and grit.

Well now that the two Boxers might be going :bye:Im worried I m not over the adventure bike thing.....the awesum places they take me.....:(

But hey,I'm ready to try lots of bikes and at this stage, maybe a mid size roadbike(cause at my ripe old age I've never owned one)and ultimately a road legal trail bike so my lust for the dirt and the gravel can be satisfied :niceone:

Loved riding the V11- awesome(but hey, shes a twin!!)and the gearbox has that distinct agricultural feel that I'm used to:devil2:.Didnt think I would but liked the "nakedness" of her

Rode my sons CBR250R home from Lake Aveimore last week and absolutely LOVED it.What am awesome wee machine:love:Pinched it on Sunday and had a fantastic day on the Peninsular with Le mans,SDU and Delphinus(Jack from Dunedin)-liked the sound of his Triumph TT:msn-wink:
So many bikes...a four, single, twin, triple???.....oh and the next bike has to be a sexier looking beast than the last, but that wont be hard:doh:

and maybe one day I'l get a R80ST cause theres summit bout those Boxers...

Here's the metservice forecast for Arthurs Pass national Park, for what it's worth. Sounds like NW will develop this side which will no doubt mean rain (eventually) the other side, hopefully later in the day.

Sat Jan 12 Issued at 7:07 am 11 Jan 2008 NZDT
Low cloud and drizzle developing west of the divide. Dry in the east. Northwesterlies strengthening, rising to gale about the tops.
Freezing level about 4000 metres.

I guess riding as far as everyone is happy to ride and if the weather gets too bad, can come back this side.

Think a good day was had by all :ride:

Geesh hasn't that pub changed !!! just shows what 17yrs can do to a place lols! and the pies were GOOD! no roadkill to be seen anywhere:blink: but disappointed there wasn't the infamous B & E pie

The fuelling up on the return was a bit mickey mouse, and the local feathered scoundrels taking a liking to unattended helmets then proceeding to stop traffic was amusing.

About the only hick-up to the whole ride was riding through a dust storm & almost being blown off the road coming out of the Rakaia Gorge

Great ride guys, thoroughly enjoyed myself. Great road conditions on the way there, a bit of grit, but not too bad, the weather played along just nicely and the tar was getting a bit soft on the way home. When you all stopped at Arthurs for fuel I carried on to the Bealey and got set up for some pics as you came through. It was nice and peaceful and relaxing and sunny lying there waiting for you all, then I head what sounded like the GP coming through the hills … ah this must be them … it sounded awesome guys. I got a couple of good shots and a load of shit ones of ya’s, so lucky you if I got you.

I was getting a bit warm the closer to home I got, and got home to discover it was 32.4 deg … ahh, that would be the cause of that then. Climbed out of the leathers and stood in front of the aircon with a cold beer – much better.

I was getting a bit warm the closer to home I got, and got home to discover it was 32.4 deg … ahh, that would be the cause of that then. Climbed out of the leathers and stood in front of the aircon with a cold beer – much better.

A group of us were out on the same road today - in fact we saw you guys go through while we were parked up at Arthurs Pass. Looked and sounded great! Nice day for it if a little hot. It must have been a lot hotter than 32 degrees - coming down Porters was like coming into an inferno!

I was with Paulus and obviously saw you guys ride through as well. Last time I was coming back from Arthurs Pass in that heat, half of Canterbury was on fire:devil2:

I don't mind bringing up the rear and looking out for newbies and the slower riders. But today I got realy pissed off. I don't know who the two riders were in front of me when I ran out of gas just shy of Castle hill village but there is a bloody long straight strecth and a look in the mirrow should have told you both something was wrong when I was not in view.

Gas is my fault but I could have been left splayed all over the road. If you ride in front of the tailer LOOK IN YOUR MIRROWS OCCASIONALY. It might save someones life.

Sorry about that SR, I was at the front and do my best to make sure I do a head count at every stop, I missed the fact you were not there sorry, people were added peope went ther own way all day so it was hard to keep a track of things.

I to ran out of gas as I got to Springfield the didnt believe it was that tho as I can usually get another 100k out of a tank, so I was involved with sorting my thing out.

The head on wind on the way up must have nocked us all around as far as fuel goes, I never relised how much extra is used in that suituation.

I'm not holding you to to blame D seems like we both misjudged the distance. I suppose on reflection it's a timely reminder that whoever is riding in front of the tail ender they need to keep an eye on them. After all in group rides he/she is the most vulneable for being left behind.

Apart from all this still a good ride with good people.

yeah I seen ya and another yellow yamy when we were at the meeting place, Felix snobed us to be with you guys huh :niceone:

Humble apologies D. Trust me, I enjoyed the ride and would have loved to have carry on - I enjoyed the pace too - am I allowed to say that...?? Unfortunately, I had to be back in the city by mid - late afternoon and could see that probably wasn't going to happen and I knew the others would be heading back sooner.

The girls did very well heading out, considering the bloody wind and 'littlish' engines. Great idea farqueue, riding ahead for the photos. I must keep that in mind myself on other trips. Speaking of photos, I take it there was someone parked up on old west coast road on the way back? :shit: It was clear (..I think :( ..) when I came back around 2.30.

Was good to meet everyone tho and I'll certainly come again. That is an excelent route - do it again!

:Oops:My Bad! , I had been watching you consistently from the time we left the Bealey until the last single lane bridge where you got held up by traffic waiting for vehicles heading west, once past there I kept an eye out for you and had seen your headlight a few times until the castle hill area.
I'd resigned myself to the fact that the gap was so great that you'd have to do something silly or dangerous to lessen the distance between yourself and Helenoftroy & myself and you being a senior rider had decided to relax and enjoy the ride instead of heightening the risk of an accident by pushing things considering the road conditions and wind.
Taking that into account I kept an eye on Helen because of the fact that she was on the smallest bike in the whole group, wasn't completely used to it and was getting buffeted around by the wind, all these factors considered she was at the biggest risk of something happening.

Apologies for leaving you behind :o < I'll make it up by putting you onto some good water on the Rakaia :msn-wink:

9/10 times when in a group I'll make a conscious effort to keep all riders in view even if I do bugger off into the distance enjoying a piece of road I'll haul things up within a couple of kms and get a visual on those following before returning to the job at hand.

All that being said the rule of keeping a visual on those following doesn't just fall onto the person in front of the T.E.C, it encompasses the whole group, and the ride should be gauged on the least capable bike in the group:)

Im really sorry bout this Skyrider.Did'nt even recognize you- as T.W.R & I went past but did notice another bike was stopped as well.

I really appreciated the support of the experienced guys with keeping an eye on me,but this goes to show its really hard to keep an eye on everyone in a big group.

Thanks for a good ride D. Great turnout. That wind was a bugger on the way up-not an issue on the way back. I was a couple of minutes behind the pack down old west coast road because the guy on the Yammie 750 stopped, so I checked on him-no problemo, but ALMOST ran into muftiman at walking home speed. BELrx65, you are my friend, I will miss you!!!!!!!!!! Nice pies!

Yeah echoing all the other comments, thanks for organising this D, was really good to meet some new people.

We were pretty lucky on the old west coast road, must say I felt a little uneasy on the back end of the group, if the mufti had turned around I think I might have worn it.

Next time it's my turn to be in the middle.

Catch you all next time or at woodstock.

Actually had I not have had an early start tomorrow morning, I may have had a couple more drinks, just a light night, a couple of wines, a magarita, and ouzo, just nice on a warm night, while watching the final of Heroes.

Now it is chill down time.:msn-wink:
