View Full Version : Cheap solution to sore bum?

After having suffered from a numbum a few times now on my (otherwise) lovely Bandicoot I decided to try those funny little inserts you can put inside your shoes (no, not odour eaters!!!!) They come by the very cute little name of "Foot Pillows" and I bought mine at the Bendon shop at Manukau. They are little gel backed cushions designed to provide "invisible comfort for balls of feet" to be worn inside your lovely 4" stilettos etc. A must for any KBers wardrobe, surely. I bet there are a few of you guys out there who have some secretly stashed in the wardrobe, only to come out on special nights...But I digress. After positioning them in, well, the obvious place (not my boots ) I took off on the bike this morning into Cornwall Park for a great meeting with insane1 so that my husband could check out his Burgman. No sore bottom this morning after climbing off bike. Admittedly it was only a fairly short ride, and I'm off to TowelRonga shortly so will give my "bum pillows", I mean "multi-use foot pillows" a more serious workout to see how they go with a longer period in the saddle.
Oh and I also purchased another item recently mentioned by sunhuntin, but that I'm putting in the Biker Angels forum, cos you guys out there don't need one of these. It's girls only sorry.

A shewee? And yes, imaginative uses for products in motorcycling has always been par for the course!

I think the best solution to numb-bum is gijoe1313's patented method ... keep riding a long distance. Keep riding a little further next time then the last time. Keep this routine up until you no longer worry about numb-bum! :msn-wink:

Sheepskin on the seat also helps the butt too.

But take it off should it rain...... wet sheepskin ain't a good look.

Lower bars will most likely take the weight off your bum by moving you more forward... this was something I did with my Hornet and allowed me to ride for a full tank with very little problem.

Padded bicycle shorts might be a solution too...

Hey there J, omg I am sooooo embarrassed now!:shit::eek5::o
But, hey, what's a discussion about bodily functions amongst friends ay? Must say that the ability to stand and pee while giving the impression of "admiring the scenery" is the only time I've ever suffered from penis envy! LOL

The odour eating bit surely wouldn't hurt though....
I just have some difficulty picturing 4" stillettos fitting the average 4 foot arse comfortably.....:niceone:

Aaaaaah, awayatc, you obviously have never read any Eric Lustbader books then have you. (Oh no, that was shoe in bum not the other way round...:bleh:)
And thank you, I now have weird images of customised knickers with butt cheek cushions and an odour eater up the centre eeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwww.
