Frame is 1TJ-004511 and engine is 5Y4-000266
I just took delivery of my next project which should be a 1976 TT250 or 350 with a XT550 motor shoe-horned in, although not very neatly.
I like the concept and am planning to rebuild it in a neat and tidy way, but I need to overhaul the motor first.
If any of you clever fellows know how to correctly ID this frame and engine combo I would appreciate it greatly.
Thanks again, as always.

A search reveals that Yamaha originally used this number on the 1986 TT350S, so its probably a TT350 frame.
5Y4 is a 1983 XT550K motor.

Here's all the Yamaha model codes (http://www.dropbears.com/m/models/yamaha/modelcodes.htm).

Does the frame look like this?

Yamaha FZR400 frame? They started with ITJ.

Yeah I think that's the year code, should be either a TT or XT 250 or 350.

Yes but nowhere near as pretty. Is that the 350 motor? they sure squeezed that sucker in, can't wait to see my 550 motor in there!

Nah mate. I wish. A TT350 would be a cool weekend runabout.

I got it off a site where someone was selling one.

Thanks, I copied all the photos to my hard drive for later appreciation. I can't understand why they went to all that trouble with the new plastics and respoked rims etc but didn't paint the frigging frame! Young people today...
