Tonight the old man (owner of a Yamaha XJR1300SP) had to get dropped off to a party for new years. Any way, he is in town staying with us for a little and he rode his bike here. I came up with the idea that I would drop him off on his bike and bring it straight back to my shed.
30mins later I'm home.
This thing (XJR1300SP) is a monstor, it cant go slow...no matter how hard to you try, you cant ride this thing to the speed limit, it's a big heavy grunt machine.
Ive never had a bigger smile on my face, riding that thing has changed my look on biking for ever. Ive never pulled away from a stop sign (out in the country) and from pure grunt have the rear wheel let go and start spinning WOAH that was errrr different.
Riding through town, its a 2nd gear engine, the engine feels perfect riding in that gear at 50km/h...however roll on that throttle and hold the F@#K on. Even rolling on the throttle in 5th (final) gear doing 50km/h would leave any modern performance car behind eat your wheel spinning rubber.
I didnt get a change to try out the suspension however it feels awesome riding through town and out on the flats...nice and firm, very supportive. Brakes are R1 items, all I can say is Im never having any more kids, my balls are still in the petrol tank some where.
Im still buzzing from the ride....pure roll on grunt, it feels like you in a 747 taking off with a stronge tale wind. If you ever get the chance to ride one of these things then do it...you wont regret it.
Now, I hope my new machine to come (Yamaha Thunderace) has simular power to the XJR...now that would be fun.
