As this is being typed, a very tired Volty rider sleeps on the bed.:zzzz:
6 days riding and socialising sure can run the batteries down.
Both bikes headed nth to 1/2 moon bay to catch the 1pm sailing to Waiheke, and meet up with Warr and Clair.
Kanny had never ridden up through the back of lake waikare, and the sea bird coast through Miranda, Kaiaua, Kawakawa bay etc, and the weather gave us glorious conditions.
Once we got to my mates batch, the bikes were parked up, and general intro's over a few drinks were sorted out. A walk along Onetangi beach, and back to the batch for a few more drinks and listen to the Tui's settle in for the night.

Sun 30th was the "Eastern End Loop Rd" ride. Taking in some very nice bays, and Vineyard scenery. The old gun emplacements were brushed aside this time, as it was pretty hot to be tramping over fields in riding gear, and once youv'e seen one pile of rock n concrete, then its all down hill from there.
We had gravel roads to ride.
Man o War Bay was a nice place for a snack under the Pohutakawa's, and Kanny couldn't resist going for a swim. The views out to Pakatoa and Rotoroa Islds are great. And there were even French "tourists" paddling out to a yacht moored just inside the Bay. I think the guys name was Allan Moffar, or something like that. We pushed onto Orapiu Bay, where a dirty Dutchman wanted to know what it is like to make love on a m/cycle, so we showed him.........:laugh:NOT.

A few more Loop Rd shots. If you get a chance to ride it, don't hesitate.

Pic 2 Pakatoa Shining.
Pic 3 Pays to be a bit cautious, but it's a doddle really.
Pic 4 Orapiu wharf. Big King fish can be landed off this.

More drinks were consumed in the evening back at Jeffs place, and we settled in for easy conversation, and more bird song.
New years eve morning delived Warr and Clair some irksome news, that cut their stay short, so me and kanny took in the isld sights on the bikes, including Whakanewha Regional Park, (Dottrel breeding ground), a private vineyard tour with Jeff through Mudbricks various grape blocks, (multiple gold medal wine label), and Kanny even did the "Tuatua twist" at low tide on Onetangi for a feed of shellfish.
New Years eve was blur of booze, fine food, music from the Rave Party just over the Valley, and several other things.

The evening became a blur of entertainment, and overindulgence's.
New Years day saw us leave the isld, and head for Kanny's rellies at Tairua, via Kawakawa bay, Kaiaua Miranda etc, and over the Kopu Hikuai road, to fresh snapper, more booze, and some serious texas Hold em Poker play. (I skipped this, cause I can't play to save myself).:whocares:
Two nights/days were spent being thoroughly spoiled, and I got the chance to see Tairua as the locals do. Very nice indeed.
The final day had Kanny taking on the Corroglen-Tapu rd acroos the Coromandle Forrest Park, and winding over the Maumaupaki Saddle. (awesome gravel road, with amazing scenery). We walked up to the "square" Kauri tree, (freak of nature that was saved from the pioneers with a gentlemans agreement not to chop it down).
The homeward ride took in the back of the Maramarua forrest, and back through the Waikato via lake Waikare again.
As I finnish up, Kanny is lightly snoring.
