Why don't we keep going a few kilometres down the road to Kaiaua (feck that's a hard word to spell)?
Actually by going to Kawakawa Bay that means we'll miss the Hunuas. Haven't seen the road between Kawakawa Bay and Kaiaua (Orere, Matingarahi, Wharekawa), is it worth riding down? It looks a bit straight on the map.

I think a few of us will probably do that anyway...then the loop back thru the Hunuas. It IS worth riding down but beware two deceptive turns.

Got out there this morning myself, empty dry road, not too sunny, just perfect. Well except for the sheep in the middle of a blind corner but we managed to avoid each other.

The plan is to head South East along the coast to Kaiaua(I know wrong spelling) and heading back thru hunuas sounds good.

Yeah! Impressed how well the Blackbird 1100 managed to keep up
Disappointing about Twilight Rd -- it's now gravel. Leong and I took a nosy up to see how far the gravel extended but it was decided the pansy-boys with fairings might not enjoy themselves. So we carried on straight.

Twilight is gravel now? Bugger! Rode through there last week and it was still sweet as tarmac with a few patchy bits.
Wish i could've made it, but some inconsiderate people actually sent in stuff so i had work to do today. Honestly, some people just have no consideration... :D
Next time! :2thumbsup

Yes, Thanks for organising howdamnhard. It really was THE most orderly KB ride I've ever been on - helped by the fact that there were only 7, and that the pace was legal. For those interested, I got 180km out of that tank before reserve.
Thanks for the pics Toto - you phone does take good pics!!

Did anybody see, as we were on our way to Kaiaua, we were going downhill in this really green wooded covered-over section. There was this really cool old ute -- 1940s-1950s era, with the huge vertical grill. On the back of it was a 1960s Honda CB77 305cc :D Looked mint, absolutely stunning.
He waved... but only at me.
Gimme some of that old Honda love.

I say the ute and caught a glimpse of the bike(was it red?), but i was too busy turning a corner to have a good look at it.
And nice ride everyone, it was my first time on those roads and now doubt won't be my last.

Sometimes life just isn't fair :oi-grr:
Not only did I miss out on the ride as I was in Chch the last few days I've been tortured by being driven over to Governors Bay and back every day in a cage. Dyers Pass (http://maps.google.com/maps?q=dyers+pass,+nz&ie=UTF8&ll=-43.594628,172.63813&spn=0.055075,0.173035&z=13&om=1) is a great road.
