Am looking at getting a bigger screen for my GS650 but have heard that with clutch and brake protectors in place the screen gets in the way. Anyone had this problem and solved it or is there a different screen that would do the job?

What?

The Givi screen will prevent you from using the steering lock, as the hand guards do interfere. The reduction in turning circle is minimal (of course, you could always shave the screen edge down to get clearance).

Tip - I reckon the tall screen looks hideous, cheap and nasty when fitted over the standard silver flyscreen. However, the Givi screen won't align to the screw holes without it... So, take the silver thing off, and space the Givi screen out with 3/4" tap washers (black ones!!) - they are the perfect size.

Thanks. Is there a different screen that doesn't need adapting? Do you find touring easier with the scren in place?

Screen problems seem to go hand in hand with venture bikes.

It's very personal and individual, sometimes you get lucky, just keep trying things out.

The direction of the wind mass (not the local breeze) has an effect as well, some days it's great, another day it's the pits!

The overall enjoyment gained from venturing cancels out the discomfort of buffeting and cold winds occasionally. :ride:

In the past I have used a short screen (cleaner air) in the warmer months and used the taller screen for the winter.

My Tigers MRA vario screen seems to be a reasonable compromise so far but next winter will be the crunch and I'm getting older, damn it. :cold: Cheers John.
