This picture was sent to me with no context at all, no location, no date, nothing.
Why are all the bikes red? Where are they? Is this a wreckers yard?
Bling for whoever knows.

No, don't think they're Chinese bikes or anything, they're just old. Some look like CG125s and early Kawa four strokes. Yellow squarish number-plates; Engerland?

I think DEATH_INC nailed it- saw a story about this place elsewhere- sounds like the city just doesn't like two-wheelers and are looking to clear the streets in time for the Chinese takeover of Jaguar. Ford Mondeos in fancy skins for the people.....

Ah yes, you are right!
"Motorcycles are seen in a yard in Guiyang in southwest China's Guizhou province Friday Dec. 8, 2006. Hundreds of motorcycles are being scrapped in a move to clear up a stockpile of over 3,000 unlicensed or confiscated motorbikes being held by police after their owners failed to pay fines. Many Chinese cities have increased restrictions on the use of motorcycles, with some cities phasing them out completely. (AP Photo)

FRom 2006...Latest edict bans motorcycles
http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/nationworld/2003470362_chinabikes10.html
GUANGZHOU, China — When officials decided that swarms of motorcycles and scooters had become a plague on the streets of this huge city, they didn't wobble in their course of action.
The solution? Ban motorcycles.
As of Jan. 1, the city's 260,000 or so registered motorcycles will be forced off the roads. Tens of thousands of people who use the vehicles to make deliveries or otherwise earn livings must turn in their motorcycles or take them out of the city.

Hope it's ok to bump this thread, just want to say
Isn't it better to have motorbikes on the street than cars? More economical, less pollution, less stress on roads.
The article said they're banning motorbikes that've been registered as well.

Nobody has every accused the Chinese government of being rational.
Probably some high-ranking official got a large bribe from a car company to ban motorcycles, corruption is the way the China works nowdays.
