I am so glad I got over myself and my fear, and persevered with the BMW. I only had 2 short rides on it prior to Xmas, when I first got it, then away for 2 weeks. This weekend I clocked up 700kms and LOVED it!
I had opportunity to follow an experienced friend on his bike in the weekend, and that helped hugely - it reminded me how to really ride the bike - great confidence builder. It was terrific to share the ride - I was starting to feel lonely by myself.

It all fell into place, my confidence returned and all I wanna do is ride my bike!! The rest of my life is in a terminal state of neglect, as I polish, clean, purr over and day dream about my bike, rides I can do, and where I am going to go - goal is offshore, Vietnam? Bhutan?
Looking for some luggage this week and planning a trip to Picton, probably next week.

BMW runs like a dream, it was never too big for me, - all the fear was in my head (I knew that, but it was a big one to get over!)

So to those who offered encouragement and support on my earlier posts, a great big thanks!

Anyone wanting company for a ride, PM me, I am mostly available

Yep, it is definitely love:)

...and you really can't get a better feeling (bikewise) when you realise with relief that your fear was in vain, and that you have 'bonded' with your bike so that when you ride you feel as one with it, and the entire universe is yours......

Great news WanderBird and enjoy your trip(s). :niceone:

Sometimes you just have to get over that hump at the start then it all clicks eh. Awesome to hear you didn't let it beat you

I'm scratching my head wondering what on earth it was all about...? I guess it was just one of those things I had to go through. All I am left with is a normal, healthy respect for the bike.

It's a strange thing, I have never experienced fear like I did over this bike, to be honest it surprised me, I am not the fearful type. It would have been SO easy to interpret it as some kind of warning, (or something?) and just take it back. Im really pleased I didn't!

I bought some saddlebags yesterday, getting ready to do a a long-ish trip to Picton ...can't go immediately due to some business stuff that needs tidying up. Bummer!

All I need now is to tee up some more local people to ride with
