Ok, I know some of you will probably cringe and complain that this is another nonbike related topic, but I will still post this proudly anyway:
007XY and I got married exactly 1 year from today   and I am so very pleased to say that we are not at each other's throat and that if anything, we love each other more than we did on that day or before.
We have been together now for almost 6 years, and the other day, my beloved noted that this is the longest relationship he's ever had, which i thought was such a very heartwarming thing to notice.
So this brought me to think and wonder about: How long have you been with your respective partner / husband or wife? And how has your relationship evolved over the years?
I realise each person / situation will be unique, and so would love to see what you guys reckon.

Congrats to both of you double 0's
You guys would still be in the anywhere sex phase, as in have sex anywhere, kitchen, garage, parks etc.
The next stage is bedroom sex, pretty self explanitory.
The final stage is hallway sex, where when you see you partner walk towards you in the hallway you both say "fuck off"
Nah thats just a myth made up be those who ain't getting any!
Number One  and I have been together for nine years total and she got a ring on my finger five years ago and we're still at the....

The Kendogs will be eight years married this year, two of those we actually spoke to each other the other six was a combination of grunts and snorts. Nah, he's my best mate, been together about 10 years (geezus!!), no wonder people think we're an old married couple!

Happy, happy day indeed! :niceone:
Congratulations, V! I hope you and 007XY have a very terrific day.
I met the vifferbabe on February 26, 1978, the day before she started university. We started going out some time in March, started living together in 1979, and married in 1982.
We've had lots of ups and downs over the years, but we've been best friends for a very long time. Some of our interests and tastes (food, most music, home decor, etc.) are similar, but it's our differences (strengths and weaknesses) that make us complement each other so well.
Sorry - I didn't intend to turn this into Bleat-o-rama.
I love her dearly, and don't regret for one minute meeting her.
Thanks mate!
Ah yes, the issue of finances...One of the major splitting issues in a couple with such a lond standing relationship as you two have (not from my experience, but from talking to a lot of mates).
Since she's an accountant, I would have thought that maybe setting up a bike budget on a monthly basis (which would accumulate if you don't use it) that you both agree on, would help to settle things nicely? Just an idea in the hope of helping... Bottom line, there is no perfect realtionship, is there?

21 years on 28 February.
I pursued the then Miss H relentlessly until she succumbed to my advances. Today this practice is known as "stalking" and there are laws against it.

We will have been married three years on March 5 and together for just over eight years. Our fourth engagement anniversary will be celebrated for the first time this year - confused? We got engaged on February 29 2004 - yes, I did propose! It was either that or be 60 and wrinkled in our wedding photos (instead of 43 and wrinkled...!) waiting for him to get around to it!
He's my best friend and the one person I'd hate to be without.

Congratulations to you both I hope it continues forever.
On Christmas eve our twelve year old granddaughter detected an air of excitement in my demeanor and asked me why!
I told her that at precisely 7pm it would be 47 years since the moment her grandma and I met each other on a blind date.
She said gosh, I didn't know that!
Well, I said if that moment didn't happen you would not be here either, so that makes it even more exciting doesn't it.
Consequently, we all had a little moment of celebration as 7pm Christmas eve rolled on by yet again. :grouphug:
It's been a fantastic 47 years and it gets better every time! Cheers John.

Being an accountant, we don't have a budget! (It's the "mechanic's car syndrome" y'know...)
I realised after I posted my usual drivel, that my generous buying of blingz last year must've had some effect. There was nary a raising of an eyebrow at the purchase of a new bike jacket for Christmas/my birthday, and the only comment about my Shoei helmet purchase was that it was prettier than her plain black one! Mind you, the blingz amounted to about five or six times as much. :eek5:

Congrats to you both, hope you keep it strong.

Congratulations to you both on your special day and all the others that keep it going.
Me, I lasted 22 years relationship and 18 years marriage in my first. Two wonderful children gained though. Girl (28) and boy (23).
Now in my second (and hopefully last) long term relationship of 6 years and married 4 years.
Happiness can come second time around. Stalked mercilessely by a kiwi girl and then thrown gagged and bound on a NZ beach from her waka just over a year ago. She tells me I am the 'english take away' and the spoils of her 14year OE.
My more cynical friend has decribed it as "A triumph of hope over experience!"

Absolutely!!!!
And it also takes a man who can cope with coming second...or maybe third....Oh okay, who am I kiddin? Fourth it is! :woohoo: :p
Seriously though...I often think in wonder as to all the elements that made me meet 007XY and think "what were the odds of us ever meeting and being so darn perfect for each other", when you count being born in different countries, speaking a different language and all the other little details of our individual lives.
Folks, truly cherish who you have. Love is a blessing!
To those still looking, don't despair and look with your heart, not with society's pseudo perfectness criterias.

Was married 25 yrs ago today too,sad that it hit the fan 10 yrs ago lol, mind you after the usual she took I let her have part,we still talk, but 2 great girls can't complain.
But wait it gets betterer, met my loverly one on new years eve 2001,was house sitting for a mate for a week, after new years eve and sober,we both clicked, moved in next day, proposed about 5 days later. Now after crap health problems,me being a couple of months away from a box, recovery and mil and mother having cancer scares,we are still at it.Life is what you make it,we both enjoy our time, going out together and even getting to stage she wants her own pants for the bike, mine too long, not bad for a lady who hated to be pillioned.
