Magpie madness rally 20-21 Nov at Winchester just north of Timaru.... anyone thinking about going?
Its a small rally but a bloody goodie with all the usual comp's, lawnmower races, live music etc theres a pub over the rd and its not often that ya get flushing shitters at a rally.
A small group of us are going X Chch via the inland rd's ( Horarata, Mayfield & Geraldine) makes for a better ride... if its fine.
The attached pics are from last years or the year before that I think... kinda all blers into one after a while, anyhow theres the winner of the lawnmower race a 750cc Kawa by memory (love the headers over the top) doing a victory lap, and a shot of our camp with my Guzzi in the fore ground and the white VFR is also mine, the GSX is SuzyQ's old bike and a couple of LeMans's LeMans... bloody Guzzi's

I'll come with ya as long as they're handing out "Dirty Smelly Biker" badges, and it ain't raining, and it ain't too windy, and it's not too hot, and the bar stocks something other than carbonated puppy piss (CD's) and .....
Aww hell, it'll get me off the housework anyway....

30UTD and I will be there with bells on - a great fun smaller rally. Not too far from CHCH but the ride can be interesting.
Love the lawn mower racing!!!
Will be the first decent ride for me in ages so I'm looking forward to it - the new pipe will get a good work out! :cool2:

What a nite, 2 great bands, beer, heaps of good folk talking utta crap and the best fire works display I've ever seen.
Meet up with KBer's SuzyQ, 30UTD and Manuboy and headed inland, to add to the ride via Mayfield and Geraldine then Winchester. Set up camp and had a few beers in the rain while checking out the bike show. The rain dident last for long so the nite cranked up with the bands and usuall comp's tittys, tatt's & bike awards etc with Manuboy winning the hairest bollocks  (so the rummer went)
Was good to meet KBer HondaV2 in the morning.... shit I hate the next morning of a rally.

Hairest Bollocks???? I shaved on friday! Must have been the Miracle Grow.
Notice to all KB'ers, D 'Dangerous' D drinks like a girl. A small girl, training to be a nun actually. A small girl training to be a nun who has a severe thoat infection and a bladder problem.
Thanks for the vitamin B SuzyQ. You saved me. The ride home wasn't long enough. Bring on the Glenorchy (or however you spell it).

Mrs H and I were in Ashvegas over the weekend for a family birthday gig. We had hired a c.a.r. from Christchurch airport. Incredibly envious we were to see the large numbers of happy, healthy bikers heading southwards for this event. What great weather! And here's us cooped up in a cage! Shame too that the roads down that way are so straight...

might have to get me that KB t-shirt, or let Dangerous do it.... save some $$!
That Glenorchy road better be worth it!

That Glenorchy road better be worth it!
There is no finer ride to be had in these isles we call home than the road to Glenorchy (and back). 44km of 100% pure motorcycle heaven!

You bet! Hardly a straight section on it and the only gravel bit is the last 2km or so to the site.
Just watch it at "the Bluffs", road narrows a bit plus be wary of camper vans stopped in odd places while the brainless occupant take pics of the splendiferous scenery.
Rumour has it that this year it falls on the same weekend as the infamous Glenorchy Races so the road could be a tad cluttered in places with horsey related traffic etc

Nobody, and i mean NOBODY can ask for anything more. (I know i'm leaving myself open here but...). The only problem is i can't imagine m/c heaven translated to tarseal.
It could be bootiful combinations of varied cambered turns with small streches of straight stuff, but then i wouldn't have time to admire the scenery which is what i managed to do even on the straight haul (inland scenic) to Geraldine...
In the end i think i'll just ride it and i'll probably find out what you mean...

Yip I enjoyed the rally, took the harley, rained most of the way there, arrived at 5pm, cant remember the fireworks, met dangerous and manuboy on sunday morning. Went home via dunedin, no speedin tickets, was that you scumdog in a silver commodore giving some poor bastard a ticket. About Glenorcy, there was 2 bike accidents last year on that road, one was serious so take it easy if you dont know the road. We were nearly blown into the guard rail at the bluffs. Hope they get the food sorted out, wasnt much last year and they ran out of coke early on sat night. Cheers Toddy
