This is just a quick update on Jay Lawrence (Jayracer37) and the Museum Hotel Racing Team’s 2008 New Zealand Superbike Championship campaign.
The team gathered on Sunday to finalise preparations and methodically pack the vehicles for the big trip south. It is amazing how many tyres are required for three Championship rounds!
Jay and his father Andrew crossed a choppy Cook Straight early Monday morning and are now based in Timaru. Along with team member Anthony McCarthy they travelled to the test day at Ruapuna yesterday and were very pleased with how things went. They had been given compound tyres from Continental and tried the soft compound for the first time. The day was spent developing the bike to best suit these tyres. At the end of the day lap times were significantly faster than was expected five days out from racing.
The team moves to Christchurch again on Thursday where Team Mechanic Hamish Laing will join them for the first round at Ruapuna.
Jay has been struggling with a strep throat infection and the flu for the last week but is confident symptoms will have disappeared well before he pulls on the leathers at Christchurch.
Thanks so much for your support, we will try to keep updating regularly so you can continue to follow our journey.

From Cowpoos' lockup to my house. But that's a long-term goal. The planets must be properly aligned before this can happen.

Thanks for the support we get from all you awesome peoples out there, also to my Doll Rache (wo)maning the fort back home till she gets to fly down for the Timaru round. I shall be chucking together a few paragraphs after (possibly) each days riding or (more likely) after each weekend. And I shall be lurking on here to see whats up, in usual fashion!

Ah, but this is my plan!
I go racing, and Rache will be compelled to import Poo's fridge so she can have unfrozen cheese/coke/lettuce/....whatever else you would put in a fridge that doesn't freeze stuff! (Personally, alcahol is great. The more of it there is, the less frozen it be!) Then I can just come back to our (I mena....Poo's) new fridge :D

Yeah I think alot of people got some ideas from your wide line coming out of the sweeper and down the straight most of the time on the wrong side of the white line :headbang:, I know K14 shortcutted across some grass and gravel on to the front straight!
