Looked at the weather in Welly this morning and decided not to bother take my leathers to work that it was a crap day and I didn't want to do my first test ride back on two wheels in the wet...well didn't ya know it cleared up a beauty.

Hubby nagged me via email telling me it was a beautiful day in LHutt and that I should get my arse down to see Dave at MotorMart as the demo was ready to roll.

A little bit anxious and excited all at the same time a quick nervous one and I was off home to collect me gears.

I hesitated at the shop asking Dave what the story is should I drop it...Dave (cool as ever) was great telling me to not be so silly, I'd be fine and to just take my time and enjoy...insisting again that I would have no trouble riding it...I used to ride with (well quite far behind actually) him and hubby many moons ago so he knew I wasn't a COMPLETE muppet...(just a half muppet )

Anyway had a blast on the wee CBF250...and just loved it! Was such a good feeling to be on a bike again especially in the knowledge that it WILL BE MINE!

Filtering...oh what bliss...can't do that in the Odyssey!!!
Wind on my chest, in my hair, down my neck and up my nose - just great!
Just about shat meself at one point when a huge big fat bug of some description fanged straight into my visor..hee hee forgot about those...wipe off the guts and keep going :woohoo::woohoo:

AND to all you lovely bikers out there who did wave back at the very excited, madly nodding and waving at everyone girl on the teeny little black bike, with the black gears and red visor - come here  And to those of you that didn't I didn't really care!

So anyway - that's bludy it! My first test ride in 4 years was I felt, quite the success! And while it's not as grunty as I'd hoped it might be I did feel completely in control and that the bike was my bitch and NOT the other way around! :headbang: So I will definately be getting one - just got to wait for some T's to be crossed and I's to be dotted and I will have a candy blooo one

It will be the least powerful bike I have ever owned but I am conscious of wanting to ride safely and within my capabilities this time around (I'm a mummy now and have responsibilities!). I want to rebuild my confidence and skills properly without the feeling of going as fast as I can just cos I can...PLUS I figure (as I feel I'll get bored quickly with it) I will just have to pull my finger out and get my damn Restricted and then Full license as soon as poss! :Punk:

SO My Riding goals (declared on here to solidify my commitment and motivation - learned that at Outward Bound):

1: short term goal -sit and pass my Restricted within first 6-8 weeks of owning my new baby.
2: Then I'd like to do a skills course to cut down the Restricted time (oh and learn more and build my skills) and get that as soon as I can...what is the shortest time possible to spend on your Restricted btw?
3: My Longer term goal is 2 be actually legal to ride the SV650 in our garage...ridden it a few times now but hate the feeling of being illegal on it...just can't bear the thought of a pointless ticket - I don't have enough money to throw it at the coppers for that.

Really looking forward to joining in on the cruizy Wednesday night rides, meeting some others (especially other chicks) and if anyone who knows what they are talking about observes me and decides they can give me some helpful pointers these will taken on board happily and applied as best I can.

Right I have wickered on long enuff! YEEEHAAARRRR it really is just like riding a bike :done::sunny:

Guess who's back, back again
Sherie's back, tell a friend
Guess who's back, guess who's back,
guess who's back, guess who's back,
guess who's back, guess who's back,
guess who's back...

I've created a monster.
Cause Number One don't want Sully no more.
She's out riding, I'm chopped liver.
We'll if you want riding this is what I'll give ya'
A second gear wheelstand where I flick y'all the finger.

Somehow she can get that bike to start quicker
Than my heart set racing on the grid at Wanganui
By the starter when I'm not concentrating
When I'm blocking the inside while they're overtaking "Hey"

You waited this long to stop procrastinating
Cause shes' back on the bike and prambulating
I know you got a job Ms. Racey
But your husbands camchain problem is complicated

So the ACC won't let me be
Or let me be me so let me see
They tried to shut me down on SH3

But now she's riding without me

So come on chick, you don't need slicks.
fuck that chuck on those slicks and some new shiny bits
And get ready cause this bike's about to get revy
She just got a new riding suit, "fuck you Sully!"

Now it's like she's done with me
So she doesn't have to follow me
Cause we have a little Honda CB,
Cause now she's riding without me

Now it's like she's done with me
So she doesn't have to follow me
Cause we have a little Honda CB,
Cause now she's riding without me...:devil2:

Those CBFs are way overpriced for a single cylinder 250. Get a VTR250 imho.

Agree - They are really but not the one I'm getting that's why I'm getting it and not something else....:sunny:

The only endorsed course in the Wellington region is Street Talk ($160), you can enrol through AAA Driving School in Newlands. The one hour practical assessment is done through Roadsafe, and is included in the course cost.

Target age of course content is 16-19 year olds, and that is primarily who attend it.
