I'm tossing up whether or not to buy a GS500. I have two choices. A brand new faired one at $7795 plus ORC or a 2005 naked one with 7000km at $6495.
I'd be saying bye bye to my 15 year old CB400 with 40,000km on it. Horsepower of the 400 and the 500 is about the same so no real difference there. I guess the power of the parallel twin 500 would come in lower down the rev range than my inline four so it may be more useful around town. Seems to go quite well at highway speeds.
The main reason for a change is just to get a newer bike that'll see me through another 5 years and I guess the availabilty of parts is a concern to me should my 400 have a whoopsie. I'm not after a great performance increase or anything like that. I just want to guarantee a good reliable (if unspectacular) ride for the forseeable future.
You GS500 owners or ex-owners have any comments that might help me make my decision. (Oh, I am leaning toward the naked bike for a couple of reasons).
