Now this may be a really stupid and piss obvios question, but I really have no clue.
I ride a Honda CMX 250 and I'm looking at installing some saddle bags to it. Now those metal dealy's that stop them scraping against the tyre.. (The name has escaped me)
Would I need 'Honda CMX 250' metal dealy's or are all metal dealy's generally the same standard size? And yeah.. that's about it.
Where I may find some would be even better but i'm not above scrounging around myself.

There are panniers of the "throw over" type (i.e., throwover panniers, LOL) that don't require guards/brackets/whatever. They go on the seat, and you sit on them (or the pillionist does).

Alright just took a look at them,
Is it magnets that keep them from buggering off?

I'm jsut plucking this out of the air, but some have straps that go under the seat, and others have a 'thing' that straps to the seat (a dead possum or somesuch) that the panniers clip or velcro onto, so they stay put but you (or burglars) can remove them if required. There are also the leather ones with buckles (a la Harley Davidson) that strap on. These are great because if you position them right, the zorst pipe keeps them toasty and warm inside, so you can dry your clothes or keep your lunch warm in 'em. :devil2:
A cruiser I test rode once had this type. When I returned from the ride, they were smouldering very nicely (I think the temperature was set a little high...)

I melted a hole in the bottom of my brand new Motoline throwover panniers less than 12 hours after picking them up from the shop.
:crybaby:
It pays to check distance from the exhaust when affixing such panniers to the motorcycle.
