Hey guys
my wr 250f is experiencing problems with electric start.
starter relay? makes a tick tick tick noise and will blow a fuse if pushed too long. not sure if both fuses are connecting properly. can still kick over.
any help appreciated. cheers

A "tick-tick" sound is often associated with a battery that has a dead cell.
The battery can provide enough energy for small loads. But when you press the start button, a solenoid (relay) connects the battery directly to the starter motor. This uses more power than the faulty battery can supply. So, its voltage drops to the point where the starter solenoid disconnects. Now the battery no longer has a large load. So its voltage recovers. The solenoid comes back in... cycle restarts.
Sounds like "click..click..cccccccccc.."

thanks dave
that seems to make sense. i will charge the battery and try again.
it is a brand new bike so for what reason would it not charge itself once charged ,is it missing a conection ? or just a crap battery.
did not leave it on.

Sounds reasonable... as the voltage drops off from the dead battery, the current draw goes up, so that'll explain your fuses blowing. Perhaps it's been sitting around a while before you got it?
