If anyone is interested, I am considering selling my fully equipped adventure tourer 2005 Honda XR650L. I havent advertised it yet, but thought I would put it out here first as most normal riders don't appreciate the time and money that it takes to equip a bike for serious long range off-road touring, however I am sure you guys do.

Anyway, I bought it brand spanking new in 2005, then spent about a year equipping it, then I crossed Australia on it with two mates. Haven't ridden it much since, and I now intend to head overseas, so face the reality of needing to sell it.

It has about 20,000 km's on the clock, and is still in superb condition. These bikes have seriously long lives. I would consider stripping it back to it's original manufacturers condition without the extras, as most of the original stuff is still brand new like the original fuel tank.

Anyway, if you have a serious trip in mind, or want to get into off-road adventure touring and may be interested, let me know, and I will send you all the details, including the list of extras. Thousands was spent equipping this bike!

Cheers.

I had originally intended to just email details to anyone seriously interested, but fair enough though, I will attempt to put more info up about the bike including photos this weekend or early next week.....
Cheers.

Bugger - I'm halfway through doing all that! Great work - a serious long distance back-country cruiser.

would you care to give some indication of what you think its worth?

To be honest, I really have no idea. Obviously it is worth only a fraction of what I spent on it, but thats always the case.
My initial thought is that it is worth not less than five grand, and maybe around six.
It would certainly save someone a great deal of money who is also looking to modify a bike for long range dual sporting. Because its all the little odds and ends that add up the price, and this package includes it all.
I guess I will see what the interest is like, and then adjust my price accordingly if I need to.

Bump for nice bike.

How much fuel (and water) did you need for the 650km of dunes?

I had 48 litres of fuel on my bike when I set off, and had about 2-3 litres left over when I finished. As for water, I had 20 litres of water on board, and that was only just enough, because we were riding in 45 degree heats...

Interesting thanks. I need to save for more litres and a nice bash plate like yours.
