...To go for a few beers, admire fine young ladys being single and all that - maybe listen to some live music - usual stuff. It seems every town I ride into Is like a bloody ghost town and I end up going to the supermarket getting some bread doing some toast and going to bed - curently in Kaitai and on my way back from the supermarket. :( Can anyone suggest some good towns in the north island that have some decent nightlife so I can think about finishing my days riding there.

Coromandel town is actually good fun when it's not peak holiday season, hit the bottom pub and spark up a conversation with one of the locals (preferably not one that is hanging by the pokeys).

Personally, after a long day of riding i like to have a couple of beers, a hot bath and watch some tv before hitting the sack. (Yep, I'm old!)

ooh arr, ee' by gum, noightlife? Here in little ol'NZ? I think what passes for night life is the pish pish noises of boi racers in their convoys, the wah wah from cops rousting out parties that are too loud, the drunken staggering from one pub to the next and the meat markets of the night club round!

I guess in Auckies, there are poetry reading classes in avant garde settings (dingy holes), kumbaiyah sessions in the domain, flicks, the comedy clubs, and the usual dodgy KB get togethers!

But I'm anti-social and just club or ride alone most of the time! Im often found in Borders bookshop getting in a free read:lol:

Does the south island have a more active nightlife? I was in Auckland for a week
ove new year, it was pretty quiet looks like like everyone decided to piss off
for a hol maybe.

At the end of a day's ride I like to go for a walk with my lovely lady/fabulous riding buddy, watch the sun set, quaff a cold refreshing beverage, enjoy her company over dinner as we debrief the day's adventures and plot the next. Then hand in hand by the edge of the sand, we dance by the light of the moon.

A good start would be that you unplug the laptop and pop it back into your tank bag, the universe is all yours after that............................

Nothing beats getting back after a day's ride and finding that your bike still has the same number of bits that it had when you set out. Sheer bliss.
