Hi, I'm new here, joined in the hope of learning more about quad bikes etc and to expand my knowledge...anyway I've just bought a 2003 Suzuki 500 quad, and need to make ramps to load it onto the trailer. I was thinking 12X2 timber planks, but I'm unsure if they will take the weight? I was thinking with each ramp being 2m long or so, they might break...the bike is 270kg, and with me on its 400Kg..so will planks handle this? Any ideas as to what you guys use as ramps? Ideas gratefully appreciated!

If you happened to be married and maybe have children, why would you have need of planks?

12x2s should be fine if you support them in the middle.

Otherwise look to someone like: http://www.rapidartnz.com/ and get something custom made.

Welcome to KB.

Welcome to KB. Nice to see another quad rider here. The half rounds will work fine. Just remember to notch them out at the top so they don't rock from side to. Rolling your quad off the ramps on top of you can be very embarrassing in mixed company.

This stuff is great for ramps. Is/was used for raised walkways in industrial situations.

Cheers guys, the ramps from Topmag are cheap, pity they are out of stock...have a mate with some really heavy planks of Mahogany, I'll try those in the meantime..looking to buy another trailer too so I'll wait for that so I can doing a proper fitting etc of proper ramps...cheers!
