Well just been looking about and I hear that the Breva 1100 is now for 08 being fitted with the 1200 engine, "The Breva gets a capacity hike for 2008 and is now known as the Moto Guzzi Breva 1200, getting an extra 10% power and an extra 16% torque, with similar colours to the Norge"
Looking forward to seeing the 8v on our shores, but the more I am thinkin about it, I am talkin myself out of puttin my leg over one. And maybe wait and see what comes about in 09 and 10.
Found a pdf copy of the 8v maintainence manual. Have not had the chance to get a good look at it yet, but it is full of pictures etc.
You can take a look at this book by going HERE (http://www.servicemotoguzzi.com/public/mo/download/bozzeGuzzi/Griso%208V-1200/Griso%208V%20-%201200%20-UK-%202007.pdf)
Also some one has got a 8v, and appears to have the perfect weather for getting out. (I do like the look of the drivetrain in black)

Yes we seen the Bellagio and we, that is SDU and I liked it as well, pity it did not have the bigger motor.
If it had the bigger motor, who know's.

Seriousy, no laughing here, they are not a bad looker, the wire wheels are nice. They are almost like a lower cc new age jackal, but nothing like one:blink: (not quite the cruiser)
It is the price point that is a killer, for what ya get, others can give at a nicer price. Sure pretty much handbuilt, but unless you got a strong enuf passion to part with the cash, it aint gonna happen. Moto Guzzi NZ could well offset that by offering carrots. Interest free, accessories pacakages, free serviceing deals for 24months.

Haven't seen price. Please tell me it's comparable to a Sporster because that's what they're pitching it at.

Idiots. They've pitched it at the 1200 Sportster, so it needs to be $17k or so.
Back to the Shiver or MT-01 then.

Hye, I don't know much about guzzi's but that first one up top looks real sexy. Just a question on the custom one below, anybody care to explain that intense looking swing-arm to a noob? It looks like a turbine housing lol

It has a drive shaft in it. No chains or belts on Guzzis.

Oh snap thats cool! What are the pros/cons of a driveshaft. The other manufacturers don't use them, so i'm guessing there is a big catch?

The new Guzzis have single sided swing arms, with the drive shaft in them.
My eara of Guzzi have the shaft on the inside of the arm exposed to the elements.
Shafts are awesome, next to no maintance quite smooth and no backlash... how ever they do drag a few HP to turn and can cause the bike to twist on take off and whelies:cool:
all the Jap makes have used shafts as do some of the euro built bikes.

Man they sound freaking cool, i will have to check out a guzzi in real life next time i'm in a bike store. Weight wise they would weigh a lot more than a chain/belt system wouldn't they. I'm guessing that all out power to weight ratio isn't a concern with the guzzi's riding styles i.e sportsterish.

They do sound great, I had quite an envy for the ripper sound that dangerous had emiting from his pipes. (did I just say that out loud??) I always wanted to find somehting that gave a bit more noise, but looked good. I think I have found pretty much that with the Mistral, and I think lost a shit load of weight also.
The griso is a good 230 odd kg But rides pretty light.
It ya ceck out the Auzzi (http://www.motoguzzi.com.au/) site, or Italian (http://uk.motoguzzi.it/home.asp?lin=eng) official sites, you can see all the specs etc there.
With the new single sided swing arms there is a little backlash evident. Ya learn to control throttle to mostly eliminate that though.
The new 8Valve Griso, I reckon will be likely to coerse around 28-29k from ya wallet by my calculations. (would be great if I was so wrong though)
The great thing I find with the Griso, and others would be likely to aggree, is they are full of torque, which is plenty enough power to have fun with.

And ride outa store with one under my arse!!!!!:scooter:

If you met me earlier you would seen me riding a Breva 1100. Lovely bike...It was faster than a RF and ZX7R Ninja off the traffic lights. As for wheelie's kinda fun but dangerous too due to the shaft and been a heavy beast.

I just read a review of the 8V Grizzler. The dude said the extra herbies came in over 6000rpm, and was much like the 4V under that but with better fueling, that can't be bad as the stock Griso has a fluffy bit around 4-5.
Stay off it Q, too tempting...
And I also saw the Balliwhatsit and thought 22K was about right for if you compare it to the Breva, I know which small block I would have..if I had to.

How do they handle, what with Honda and suzuki pulling out of the v twin market(?) we will all have to consider these italian marques our vee twin fix.
Very interested to hear how they rate for rideability and handling sharpness and stabilty as compared with other sport bikes.
imo, anything more than ~100 hp should have been put back into bottom end torque
:-)

Ha ha read the title..... oh the 8Valve.... mmmmm 8v  I like.
I cannot say how they handle in comparison to others, as I have not realy riden others at all.
I would imagine that the 8V would e very similer to the stad griso, except more punch when ya hit that "line"
Given that this is my one and only bigger bike I have ever riden. It handles great. The griso has a little backlash with throttle on/off, but ya learn to smooth it out.
Wonderful, wonderful... There is just that "Sumthin" about em that sticks it's hook in ya solid.

For a start the Guzzi is a sports touer not a sports bike.
Guzzi have alwasy had awesome handling for what the bikes cosisted of, the Griso is the same an awesome handler.

Oh damn give us a pint!!! :first: The speed limit needs to be increased just for the 8v rather than trying to reduce it. The article does no good to the idea of just being happy with the old grizz.
The old grizz still remains a great piece of "Art" but Bigger, Stronger, Faster does appeal some.

I've got a serious woody for this. Looks like it may have the ground clearance the Breva could have done with.

The V7 Classic is a heck of a lot better looking than the 940.
The Breva did not do well in NZ, and second hand they are difficult to sell.
The V7 is "only" a 750, and "only" 48HP. There won't be a bloke in NZ who would buy it at close to $20k when they could buy a fully faired sprotsbike instead.
The 940 is way over priced for a 1200 HD Sportster competitor, and the V7 will have to compete with the low end Bonneville. If they try and pitch it at Ducati Sport Classics they will get an absolute hiding.
If it's Bonne priced then they are on to something.

Well I dont see the point of even trying to sell it here then if your right :-
Guzzi V7 classic : 48 BHP, 18-19K.
Triumph Bonneville : 66BHP 14K
Thruxton : 69BHP 16k
As much as its a really good looking bike, justifying an additional 4-5K over its immediate competition is just barmy. That must explain wht their seems to be a lot of 06 model year Brevas still lurking around in dealers in NZ unsold then.
Its a shame love the Griso, 1200 sport and the V7 but not at that price, no way I could justify it.

But Hornet is like buying Budget cola, it works and tastes fine. Mass produced and a nice price.
The Guzzi though, is more like the glass bottled Royal Draft Cola, a bit on the expensive side, but has that class factor.
I guess it is all each to there own, and that is the thing that makes bikes and people fab!!!!!!
Bikes no matter what they are, are awesome, it is just a shame that money dictates what we buy over what we would really like:(

Now that is a classic quote from a wife after she spends $250 on a pair of jeans......
One other thing I have noticed is that the fit and finish on the 'mass produced' Japanese litre bikes is in most cases superior to the American and Italian bikes. The difference is apparently called 'character' and costs a lot more.
As stated I like the Grisso and Bonnie, they would just require someone dying and leaving me some dollars to purchase!

I suppose I've been on KB long enough to clue the general population in to my biases and preferences.
That V7 is feckin' hot. 48hp from a push-rod 750, that has to be a very fun bike to ride. Big thumper-like torque curve, no doubt. If I had that sort of money, that would definitely be on my upgrade list for first 250+ bike.
No doubt somebody will customises one into a Sport replica (probably in Japan).
