Good to see your not wasting your money on boots and gloves, they're for women and homo's eh?
Wow, and you can even give the finger *while* riding the bike *without* falling off!
:Oi: Magua!
Can you keep this muppet off your bike? I don't want my ACC levies to pay for his skin grafts ok?

I'm hoping you were castrating yourself with a rusty bread and butter knife to prevent pollution of the gene pool.

You dont know what I was doing in the last pic...The way the rest of the series of pics are heading, I don't think we do want to know. Riding bike - got off bike - hands down your pants, heading towards the bush...

You could at least try to wear some type of body protection.
Oh well.

I offered him gear, foolish russian didn't use it.

but you still let him ride your bike???... farq that...
"wear it or walk" might become my new motto
StoneChucker
11th November 2004, 20:54
Hell we can't make you do anything you don't want to do, but that really is reckless. I reckon you should buy gear first, then a bike.
And no, I still haven't bought proper riding pants :soon:
PS: I hear over in the states, they're pioneering a new plastic surgery, where they graft kevlar pads directly onto all impact/sliding surfaces of the body. Supposedly skin like in feel and look. All you have to wear, for legal reasons, is your jock strap

I'd suggest that someone with as little concern for their personal welfare as Frankie would have the same or less concern for the welfare of your bike.
Also don't forget the rough formula for our ACC levies:
number of motorcycle related accidents in a year
X
average cost per accident
/
number of motorbikes registered = acc levy per bike.
Gear can be the difference between bruises or plastic surgery.
Plastic surgery is expensive.

shit come off wearing that, mince meat city!
have come off on that rd in full leathers
two broken ribs, screwed gloves ETC,
bite it in that gear is going to hurt
Magua
11th November 2004, 21:17
Don't get me started on the levies, $68.05 for 3 months. Couldn't even afford 6
Mr Skid

Yeah... like your snow gloves are going to save me...
What an utterly spurious argument.
You're suggesting that the gloves he offered you would provide little protection, and therefore you didn't bother wearing them?
You're suggesting that no protection is better than little protection?
I think you'd better stick to cars eh mate.
BTW Magua, I've seen leather gloves for $29 at Motomail.
That's bugger all, and will protect you better than snowboarding gloves will.

All I can say is I hope you never face a situation where you realise the value of good gear, be that you coming of, or like I have seen... friends hurting themselves very badly because of their stupidity and lack of making sure safety should be taken seriously.

Amen sister.
Of the few times i have had slight incidents the gloves got totally wasted. I would not have any skin on my hands if i had not been wearing any though. All i can say is that decent gear has saved a few of my appendages from serious harm and if you are willing to ride around like that you had better go buy a wheel chair before you get a bike ...... cause you'll end up needing it.

Glad to hear.
To clarify the point, at 100km/h you will not graze your hands.
You will experience degloving. Imagine your skin, muscle and tendons as a glove over the bones in your hand.
I'm sure you can work out the rest, and thus why I speak so forcefully on the issue.

I understand that if i was to fall off on the motorway id have little to no chance...

He's wearing more safety gear than I used to at his age,we didn't use helmets then,no ACC and our bikes were bigger and easier to fall off - on the other hand back then the roads were softer...we would bounce right back up and use hormones supplied to us in our youth to rapdly mend dented bodies.

If you fell off at 50k you could be in deep schtum too, and you will end up with a whole bunch of unnecessary injuries. Just stay off bikes until you have the gear, or you can borrow it. I know what Motu is saying, but the truth is the cumulative effect of a series of accidents in youth can be debilitating in old age. Break all your fingers AND remove all the skin from them and then see if it's such a joke. They'll require external fixation which means you can't move them, plus they'll ooze and smell bad and dressing them will be fecking difficult and painful because of all the small bones grinding together.
Ahh the joys of the youth feckless.
By the way, feckless means without care or regard for one's own safety or the consequences of one's actions, and also significantly intellectually challenged. And no I won't spell phonetically. Look the big words up.

Well - for something positive (since this fella's getting such a slamming for not wearing decent gear on a ride - I think he's got the picture) - good luck saving up for your bike! What do you want to get?

i think frankies taken enough of a beating!
After all he is only russian ;) all ill say is if it is easily available then chuck it on, and if it isnt, well just be prepared to take it like a man!
Cant say i ride much without gloves, they are like a helmet, but sometimes if its just up the road ill shoot up in just a jumper or something, its all risk i guess and guys tell me - if the poor russian man can only just afford a bike and no gear, and nobody was willing to give him gear id still say ride! i dont mind you using up some of what i pay re: the ACC levi's, its better then not getting out there at all, what about you guys? would you rather we didnt have him on our side?

I've got proper motorcycle gloves. HJC racing, waterproof too . I got them with my first bike. I don't ride without them.

well - in my opinion, idiots riding motorcycles without gear is simply natural selection at work.
there is no lifeguard at the gene pool.
here's an idea - maybe you should leave the helmet at home too.
then you won't clog up our expensive and overstressed hospitals.

Waterproof glubs are an essential in Auckland eh?
I've got a nice pair of waterproof Spidi's, which keep my hands dry and toasty..
Unfortunately they are getting a wee bit too toasty in our current weather.. :sweatdrop

Saw a cute blonde getting off her trail bike at the Mercer Street park this morning. I wonder how long she'll be cute while she insists on wearing knee length shorts and sneakers as riding gear...

i fell off at less than 40kmh and it was only my gloves that saved my palms, they took a decent hit and they are only about 2mm think leather(ish) material. left me with a slight bruise. Andrew (i think that is your name) or FRANKIE as you call yourself, riding without gloves is like asking for a circumcision with a grator, it isnt nice when it happens....
