Robbie Bugden won the Superbike GP today, new lap record too, 1:30.892 at last count. Race was a full restart after Sam Smith fell ( he's okay) while leading the first one. Great racing:yes:

fuk! thought I had been racing in my sleep again..

glad to hear.. I think I caught a little of the race on TV in a shop, but was promptly dragged on. Saw a high side, and some other fun stuff..

Well done Robbie then

the sam smith crash happened right in front of us. didnt see the cause but saw his bike flying through the air and him curled in a ball in the middle of the track trying to avoid the 4 bikes that were directley behind him ( i think he may have been lightly clipped by at least 1). he half crawled/limped off the track and it was at least 5 whole minutes before any marshals even started heading over to see if he was ok. there was no marshal or van anywhere near pothole people corner which i thought was pretty bad. the ambulance from pit lane ended up being the first there, but he was on the ground in obvious pain for a long time with no assistance.
:spanking: not a good look for racing at ruapuna i thought

otherwise what a brilliant day at the track:niceone: plenty of great racing in all the classes and great weather to boot!

oh and thanks to the Rockbulance on wednesday for the 2 free weekend passes:woohoo:

Agree with the lack of safety support there man, that was just crazy what happened there with Sam, I to saw it all go down, maybe our officual MNZ staff that were there noticed it also, and some thing may be done for the future

:

What about Kirk lying on the front straight and them not red flagging the race with two bikes blocking nearly the entire straight, especially with the drafting that the 125s do it would of been very easy for it to have got a lot worse, and the fact that a few were taking the line out of the sweeper that went over the grass (aye Kirk!) meaning those behind were unsighted due to dust..:shit:

I was on the embankment on the main straight and seen it unfold. It is one of the worst places to crash as ambulance access can only be gained by crossing the track. The ambulance started moving within a minute or so of the crash but i guess it can not cross over untill all race traffic has stopped. This means that if a bike had just passed pit lane at the time of the red flag, then the ambulance would have to wait for the bike to complete its slow lap back to the pits before the clerk of the course allows ambulance access. The flag marshels are not supposed to leave their post, no matter what. but your right, it was a long time before help arrived.

The ambulance was less than 100m away when the 2 rs125's crashed on the main straight in the 125 race. about 2 laps had passed before the ambulance even moved.

all in all, a good day - the flag marshels seemed to do a good job from a spectators point of view anyway

The flag marshalling was poor!
Ask the 250GP riders who were waved a red flag on the last lap, when they (the flaggies) were suppose to wave a blue flag! The riders pulled off the at the top sweeper, meanwhile a checker was waved to riders who continued.
Also when the Superbike race was stopped a red was waved at the hairpin but the flaggies continued to wave a yellow at the dipper! Did they not have a red to wave? Very poor for a National event!

Which is funny since the Ambulance didn't need to cross any track to get to the fallen riders, they just didn't seem to react to the crash at all!
