I see this has finally been allowed up on KB.
Condolences to the family.

Just be sure to have your facts correct before posting up what you think happened. He wasnt hit by a car. A bike travelling at 110km/h along Marua Rd (50k area), a car cannot possibly judge that speed in a highly built up suburban area and pulled out of a side street (Michaels ave for those of you that know it). He hit the car. His comments were to tell his mum he loved her.
No disrespect to the young man, rest in peace. I am just saying it is not always the cars fault. Be careful out there.

Dreadful, just dreadful. Didn't know him at all but after looking at his profile I see he was only a young one. Knowing that death comes to all of us eventually doesn't make it any easier to comprehend, especially when it is someone who should still have had a whole lifetime ahead of them.
There are no guarantees that us older ones are any less susceptible to this mentality, but remember: none of us are bulletproof. It's not the sole prerogative of the young to think they're invincible but this is a tragic, tragic reminder that none of us can afford to get sucked into that mindtrap.
Condolences to his family and friends.

There are really no words that can express the feeling I have when I read about a fellow biker (kiwibiker) dying in a motorcycle crash. I didn't know Patrick, but then again I did, as I do most of you lot, through our mutual love of motorcycling. It runs through the blood, and nobody can tell me differently. So Patrick was family to me and my thoughts go out to his family left behind and the driver of the other vehicle. As for Patrick I know he is in a great place. Sad news...again!

An expression of empathy can be displayed in any way, shape or form. Let him do his bit in peace, whatever it may be.

Didn't know him but it's always disheartening to hear the loss of another rider. Unfortunately he wasn't displaying the smartest of riding responsibility but we weren't there to see the situation, Ride in Peace.

I've been swapping pm's with this young man lately. He was interested in a rifle I have for sale. He was planning to come out to my house sometime in the next couple of weeks to inspect it and test fire.

This is terrible news. None of us know what actually happened and it is not fair for us to judge. Some accidents are unavoidable at any speed.

What does come out of this is that we all have to take more care. The freedom we get with our superfast wheels means that we have to exert better control over our potential capabilities. There is a time and a place for safer speeding.

Too many lives are being lost and too many friends and family are suffering heartbreak.

Some of this is avoidable.

Shit. Just saw this now. Sad that I wont be able to ride with you again Patrick.

Patrick really did care a lot about his parents. Back in Novemeber last year after the Cheesecutter ride to the museum, a bunch of us went for a ride out past Clevedon. Long story short, Patrick put his bike down a bank (upside down...funniest crash I have seen in a long time), and Patrick was in a tail spin about his parents finding out...

14th January 2008, 18:43
Patrick you stupid sod...

I first met the little guy in Auckland Hospital... I was wandering along, skulking as it were and trying to avoid hard work when this blond giant loomed before me and asked "Are you Donor from KB?"

After I had racked my brains for how many fair haired professional wrestlers I had pissed off lately, I admitted I was.

Patrick reached out a hand and I shook it, with him introducing himself as 0arbreaka from KB.

Over the last few months, I have met up with him a fair few times, and he was always asking me questions about my job, telling me he wouldn't mind trying it one day and denigrating crusiers.

We never hung out, rode together and I wouldn't say we were best buddies, but he was a top bloke to talk to. Anyone that has worked at or had to deal with hospitals in a work related capacity will know how refreshing it is to have someone there you can chew the fat with and forget work for 5 minutes.

I heard the scuttlebutt last night that Patrick was gone, it fair numbed me... first KBer that I have met who I will never see again.

See you Thursday mate...

14th January 2008, 18:52
Patrick will be truely missed. He was one of the best guys I have ever met, and was always always there for me.
I am just so thankful he turned up at work just before christmas (drove almost an hour for a pair of jeans!!) so I was able to see him before he left this world.
My god, I have barely stopped crying all day! We talked basically all day every day. He said I made his long shifts at work so much more tolerable. I will miss him so so much.

Sending my love to his family. I know that his father wasn't too keen on him being on a bike (something I could relate to) but I know it was something that truely made him happy. It is just so sad that he finally got his bike working as he wanted and now is unable to use it.

Will see some of you on Thursday.

I got to know Patrick a couple of months ago when he bought the GSXR off me. He didn't have a full license but was able to get a special license for comfort reasons due to to his towering size which looked hilarious on his 400 ZXR:laugh: We kept in touch for a while as he told me how much he enjoyed riding the gixxer - and it made me happy that someone was getting as much satisfaction out of it as I had.
Patrick, you will be sorely missed - may life be good in Gixxer heaven:Punk:

Just found out this evening about Pat... R.I.P man...

Met him first at one of the Norfland BBQ's... the one with the preride where SkidMark and Patrick followed in a Mark's car (Morcs, DiscoDan and a few others that I can't remember names were also on the ride)...

From there, chatted a couple of times on MSN about all sorts of things to do with biking etc, lots of chatting from when he was fixing up his zxr400 (respraying etc from a different crash)...

Last time I saw him was at the Cheesecutter beginning and ending spot where we chatted a little.

Was a really nice guy, and I know he will be missed by everybody that knew him. Condolences to his family.

Damn noob is all I can say...he was ment to come to the pub on Monday to meet up with the other learners...was so keen to just catch up for a drink etc...when I chatted to him on MSN saying WTF were ya he said he forgot!!

He was gutted he forgot about it being monday night... we laughed about it and agreed to meet the week after...

It has struck hard, he only lives 2 streets away from me, when I heard his bike rumble past or see him ride by when Im out on the deck with bikers, it was like "yep there goes 0arbreaker"

We were plotting an evil plan against Skidmark...when he found out I ran Skidmark off the road cos he cut me off, I had won his respect, he wanted me to teach him how to corner with confidence, and out ride Skidmark on the Kaiaua loop..

Evil laughing over that, the plan was in place....

Don't worry hun, I'll ride the loop for both of us, and kick Skidmarks ass for ya!! Just make sure you're on the pillion seat to savour the moment when I do.

When I feel the breeze whisper and send a chill down my back I'll know you'll be with me in spirit.

Hey Pat,
Can't stop thinking of you dude! You were a best mate, a mentor and someone who always caught up where we left off... Those 5 years at high school, New Years in Gissy, when we went to the beach with Garth, the awesome time both you and I had last year when we both flew to Welly to meet the others. The list of fun times just doesnt stop. And refering to the last text you sent me on New Years where you wished me "happy new years bro, I'm pissed as" I'll never forget that man. :crybaby:

Its a priveledge for me to attend on Thursday, to the place where I met you 5 years ago. Us boys will make sure that we stick close for you, and that annual meet-up will not go astray

to meet up with everybody from the thursday night ride, great fun to be had in that, crank up some pendulum which we both loved...

he sure as hell knew how to throw a car around...

gearshifts in a car were always perfect. dragging off boy racers down the motorway, beat an r32 turbo skyline one night.....in a VW golf

and well pat we won't comment on your shifting on a bike

Thanks for the confirmation

All I did was go to the Herald online..... and looked up Patrick's name.....
His parents and family placed that funeral notice only in today's issue...
So one can only go by that....... plus what his brother 'Robo' said as well.

Not sure which thread to put this in.

Wondering if any one is going to the funeral from around the Taupo area or passing through? I was going to ride up with Aero165, but he might not be able to make it... I'm leaving here (Taupo) at 5Am Thursday morning... Any one keen to join?

Of all the ones I have seen on KB since I got here (just over 1/2 year ago) this would have to be the saddest one for me. A young guy. Liked by all. Had a chat or two with him on here. Enjoyed his comments. He was part of the KB scene. His brother is on here.

And now he is gone.

It rips my heart out and there is nothing I can do to change it.

Nothing.

Please show some respect for 0arbreaka.

It is not appropriate in this RIP thread dedicated to his memory to conduct a headcount/analysis of other fallen KB members.

I think what was meant, as a "headcount" is that it doesn't matter how good you are, or think you are. The road is a dangerous place, and if we learn anything from the lives of the people that are no longer with us, it's that with the fun that comes with motorcycling, we always have to be on the lookout for others.

Be careful out there guys...
