Say I was looking to get a box big enough to get a motorbike in from Bolton in the UK, to Christchurch in sunny NZ (I have asked the shipper for size and weight details of the box/crate) how would I go about it? Who am I going to call?
Just speculating at this stage, trying to see if something I want to do is financially feasible. Good news is no VAT on exports, bad news is GST on freight plus cost of goods. Plus getting registered once here.
But if I dont look into it I will never know.
even links to a website would be appreciated.
Thanks

So you just cast off that beautiful little 400/4 like it never meant a thing to you with some made up line about `too many bikes in the garage, can't ride them all' -- then immediately start looking overseas for some new young hussy replacement bitch. It makes me very sad, Henry, very sad indeed

just because your plate is full, doesn't mean you can't look at the menu.
and I am having misgivings about selling the 400/4: I did have it on start equals reserve but I took it for a spin and now the reserve is increased. lots of watchers a few lookers, but it is really lovely to ride. Apart from the brakes which suck... but then they all do. I may decide not to sell it yet :(
but then I really DO have to get rid of the other one.

Some arsehole just bid on your auction. Don't worry, I'll track him down and make sure he can't afford it.

Rojay Freight in the UK sorted me, prompt, good price and arrived when they said it would.

I did it and it took 3 months, I can tell you that your much better to sell in the UK and buy here you will get more bike for your money and much less hassle, the only reason I did it was because of a relocation package and the fact that I would not sell my P&J which I owned form new.
(I know we shouldn’t get sentimental about machines but I can’t help myself)

beware of the charges on this end as well, i brought a spare motor in from the states, cost $360US for the shipping (from memory), and $200 to be released by the logistics company over here.
They also wanted to arrange the neccessary documents to have it released (would have been $120 for customs clearance (another 120 for inspection if needed), $65 for MAF (165 if inspection needed) and another 50 after that.
Needless to say i did the customs and maf stuff, cost a grand total of $35 (MAF inspection fee)
I googled and googled for places to do the shipping, ended up going with www.iqglobal.com
