Hamish and I plan a quick ride to the top of the Takas tonight after work. We won't be leaving home (Kelson) till around 6.20pm, so if anyone else feels like a ride we could meet up at the top around 7pm-ish. Weather is not looking too bad. I'll be getting reacquainted with my 1000 now that it's running on two cylinders again!

It's looking GREAT out there; may well come out for a spin, if the evil work monster hasn't sucked all the life out of me, that is... :pinch:

Starting to look dark up here. :disapint:
I was thinking about skiving off for the arvo & getting out on the trials bike. Sadly friends have too much work on to come.
Guess I'll ave to stay at work [sigh]

That'll teach me for going on a course all week and missing out on web posts!
Mrs H and I have not long since returned from a pizza in Greytown. Last week's midweek excursion was a pizza at Featherston.
The gravel at the bottom of the Kaitokes isn't too bad -- at the moment. The next stage will be worse.
I think summertime pizza excursions have much to commend them!
Shame about the exposed steel braiding in the middle of my rear wheel though...
Fortuitously Hazel from Motorad was at Caltex Rimutaka on our return so I've arranged for a new one to be fitted tomorrow! If the weather's good after that we'll probably head off late morning for Cross Hills...

We met up with Her_B4 on the wonderful sounding Duc at Caltex, and I had a BLAST to the top of the hill. Shit, it's great to be riding a 1000 twin, not a 500 single. I love my 800, but the thou has definitely got far more power.
We hung out at the top of the hill for a while (talked to a lovely couple from Warkworth in a camper van who have three 1940's Jeeps, so they understood the bike thing!) then headed back to Lower Hutt to Hunful for a wonderful orange beef meal.

Hey Lynda, saw you at the caltex on my way back....tempted to turn around but was on a promise to my wife not to be too late.
Went all the way to Mborough and got coated in bugs...there must be more bugs per head of population in the Wairarapa.
Darn good way to finish the week.
On the Wairarapa side of the hill 2 cop cars had pulled over some very hillbilly looking dudes as I accidently blasted past cause I didn't see them as they were tucked in one of those tight corners. They were still there on the way back and took a great deal of interest in me as I trickled passed trying to sound as quiet as can be.
Might see you on the hill this weekend.
